Whether you’re looking for a high-performance model for productivity or an affordable one that keeps the kids entertained, we’ve got you covered, with solid savings on some of the top-rated tablets we’ve tested.

The new iPad Air is on sale with the biggest discount we’ve seen so far. It’s only 17% off, but it’s the best prices we’ve seen so far. In our review of the iPad Air, our expert gave it an “Excellent” rating and our Editors’ Choice award, appreciating the powerful performance of its M2 chip, the beautiful screen, and the excellent cameras.

Amazon’s latest Fire HD 8 gets a deep 45% discount this Black Friday, making for a stellar time to pick one up. In our review we particularly loved its light weight and how great the battery life is, allowing you to play games and stream content all day. And it’s $55 right now. Need we say more?

It may not seem like a very lot, but the 13% discount on the OnePlus Pad 2 is the best one we’ve seen for this tablet thus far. In our review, we appreciated the tablet’s strong performance and bright display, as well as the solid battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ may not be available for the same low price we saw on Prime Day, but it’s still can be yours with a solid $70 discount. We reviewed the Galaxy Tab A9+ and it earned an “Excellent” rating and an Editors’ Choice award. Our expert Iyaz Akhtar called out how it proficiently handles advanced productivity tasks as well as streaming and gaming at a low price with few drawbacks. And let’s not forget about that large 11-inch screen!

At $200, the 64GB 9th-gen iPad is down to the lowest price we’ve seen. It’s not the most current model, but when we reviewed it, our expert declared it “the best tablet for most people.” That’s high praise that also earned it an “Excellent” rating and our Editors’ Choice award for capable performance no matter if you’re streaming content, playing games, taking notes, or just doomscrolling the day away.

The Best Black Friday Deals on PCMag’s “Best of the Year” Picks

At 24% off, this Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is a superb deal, especially since it comes with a Surface Pro Signature Mechanical keyboard and an extra year of warranty protection. In our review of this tablet, we gave it an “Excellent” rating and even our Editors’ Choice award. “Microsoft’s Surface Pro 9 is its most polished yet, with unmatched performance, helpful features, and long battery life among high-end 2-in-1 detachable Windows tablets,” our expert noted. This configuration has an Intel i7, 16GB RAM, and a 256GB SSD.

One of the things we loved when reviewing the Amazon Fire HD 10 is its affordability, but now that it has a 46% discount for Black Friday, it’s an even better choice for those who don’t want to spend a fortune on a tablet. Our expert Sarah Lord gave it an “Excellent” rating and our Editors’ Choice award, adding that it’s the best cheap tablet for most people.

The current base-model iPad is down to $250 for Black Friday. This is a tablet we rated as “Excellent,” awarding it our Editors’ Choice award, appreciating the new design, high-quality cameras, and fast performance. “Apple’s 10th-generation iPad remains the best tablet for most people thanks to its many improvements in design and performance,” writes Eric Zeman.

The Amazon Fire Max 11 is another tablet that earned an “Excellent” rating, and it’s now available at its best price ever. Our review notes that this tablet has a big and vibrant display that delivers great performance, especially at such an affordable price point. If you’ve already bought into the Amazon ecosystem, which includes a lot of free content, the Max 11 brings some heat, as does this deal!

With a 33% discount this Black Friday, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE is worth considering, especially since this is the best price we’ve seen for this particular model. The tablet features a large display, has good battery life, and comes with a card slot so you can easily expand the storage space if necessary. While we didn’t review this exact model, we tested the larger Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, which earned our Editors’ Choice award.

The Google Pixel Tablet is 30% off right now, only five bucks shy of the absolute lowest price we’ve seen it hit. In our review, PCMag’s Iyaz Akhtar said it bridges the gap between tablet and smart display surprisingly well. It also scored points for handling multitasking with ease, being a great media slate, and doing a fine job serving as an oversized smart display. We love a multitasker! 

At $100, the Lenovo Tab M9 is 38% off, which is the best discount we’ve seen. The tablet features a 9-inch screen and only 32GB of storage space, although it does have a microSDXC slot if you want to expand it. You’ll also get a folio case with your purchase, so the screen is always protected when you shove the tablet in your bag. We may not have reviewed this model, but we’ve tested plenty other cheap tablets for comparison. 

At the lowest price we’ve seen, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ is a great buy at $850 (down from $1,000). In our review, our expert Iyaz Akhtar praised the tablet’s to high-quality hardware, useful productivity features, and excellent performance.

The newest iPad Pro is down to its lowest price this Black Friday so now’s the perfect time to grab one. In our review, we gave the iPad Pro an “Excellent” rating and our Editors’ Choice award, with our expert Eric Zeman praising the tablet’s premium design, brilliant display, and fantastic performance.

The Fire HD 8 Kids Pro tablet is better suited for older kids and features a larger screen. For Black Friday, it’s less than half its usual price, a record for this particular model. In our review of the tablet we touted the strong parental controls and the protective case included, as well as the worry-free two-year guarantee provided by the company.

Amazon’s Fire 7 Kids tablet is down to its lowest price for Black Friday, making it the right time to get your kids a device to watch content on. “Amazon’s Fire 7 Kids Tablet is an affordable and durable option for parents who want lots of control over the content their kids consume,” our review says. The tablet comes with a protective case and ad-free content.

Now available with a rare discount, the reMarkable 2 is perfect for those who want a tablet they can write on, focusing on note taking and planning. There’s no streaming content, no gaming, or anything else—this is an eInk tablet made with a clear goal in mind: taking notes. In our review, we appreciated the lack of latency and the simple interface.

Is Black Friday/Cyber Monday a Good Time to Buy a Tablet? Should I Wait Until Then?

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are opportune times to pick up a new tablet at a discount. Whether it is Fire tablet or an Apple iPad, retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart are likely to have good deals. However, don’t expect to see sales of 50% off. Retailers will drop tablet prices only modestly, with discounts not exceeding about 25%. It’s unlikely that prices will be any lower later in the holiday shopping season. 

Will the iPad Go Down in Price on Black Friday?

Some retailers are expected to drop the price of the Apple iPad on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In this case, sale prices for the iPad will fall between 10% and 20%, depending on the model, how old it is, and the retailer. Apple itself will not discount the iPad, but Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and others may drop the price just enough. 

Which Tablets are the Best to Buy? 

Different tablets work for different people. Casual users who are only interested in using a tablet for streaming media should stick with low-cost options like the Amazon Fire HD 10. People who are invested in Android phones, like those from Google, Motorola, or Samsung, may find an Android tablet like the Galaxy Tab A or Tab S works best, as it will seamlessly handle app and content purchases from the Google Play Store. Apple iPhone users will be best served by an iPad, which has a similar operating system and tie-ins with the Apple App Store.
