MICHAEL Strahan leaped to the defence of Jimmy Johnson after an apparent set mishap.
Strahan was “saving lives” on Fox’s Thanksgiving NFL special, host Curt Menefee laughed.
Johnson joined Strahan, Menefee, Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long in the Fox studio for Thursday’s game.
The network broadcast the NFC East showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
And the usual Fox NFL Sunday crew had a different set for the Thanksgiving game.
The special effects and green screen made it seem as if the panel were in a more idyllic setting.
Hay stacks from the back of a truck began to fall out on a screen behind where Johnson was standing.
And Strahan pranked his co-star by making it seem as if the objects were coming in his direction.
The New York Giants icon grabbed Johnson to make sure he was ‘safe’ from the apparent threat.
And host Menefee joked Strahan was “saving lives out here.”
Johnson and Strahan had an entertaining show on Sunday.
Strahan was left in laughter at his counterpart’s Dallas Cowboys “false hope” claim.
Johnson said, “The Giants have got some guys who can rush the passer, but Cooper Rush is efficient.”
Bradshaw jumped in to ask rhetorically if Rush should be the starter even when Dak Prescott is healthy again.
And Johnson said, “No, I’m just saying they’re going to get on a run.
“They’re going to win today, they’re going to win next week, they’re going to win the week after that.
“They’re going to get on a run, and they’re going to have a little bit of false hope.”
Michael Strahan’s NFL career
Michael Strahan is one of the most recognizable faces on television.
But he came into his media career off the back of a hugely successful stint in the NFL.
Strahan spent 14 years all with the New York Giants from 1993 to 2007.
He was a seven-time Pro Bowler and helped them win the Super Bowl in 2007 – ending the New England Patriots’ hopes of a perfect season.
Strahan was also a two-time NFL sacks leader and also won Defensive Player of the Year.
The ex-Giants star set the single-season sack record with 22.5 in 2001 – a feat which was matched by J.J. Watt exactly 20 years later.
He is one of the best defensive stars to have ever played the game – finishing with 141.5 career sacks and 854 tackles.
Strahan burst out laughing and hugged Johnson after the false hope claim.
Dallas recorded a 27-20 win over their division rivals from New York on Thanksgiving.
It was the Cowboys’ first home win over the 2024 season.
And it improved their record to 5-7 and kept their faint playoff hopes alive.
Johnson will have Sunday off and miss Fox’s coverage at the weekend with Rob Gronkowski replacing him.
