SAP has launched EU AI Cloudan offer with which it reveals its vision for European digital sovereignty in general, and for AI in particular. With a sovereign AI and cloud offering designed for the region, SAP offers a complete cloud solution that allows customers to choose the right level of sovereignty and deployment based on their needs. The client can use SAP data centers, trusted European infrastructure or its own facilities, or develop a fully managed solution in its facilities.
EU AI Cloud supports EU data residency as well as full sovereignty, helping to ensure that each organization meets its specific regulatory and operational requirements.
Separately, SAP has partnered with Cohere to deliver agentic AI capabilities with Cohere North, expanding next-generation multimodal AI capabilities through EU AI Cloud as well as sovereign offerings.
To achieve this, Cohere North will be integrated into SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), allowing the company’s customers in any industry with data residency restrictions to integrate production-ready AI into their core business processes. This will enable companies to gain deeper insights, more decision support, and more intelligence in automating workflows without compromising sovereignty, performance, or compliance.
EU AI Cloud integrates advanced AI models and applications from different European and global partners into SAP BTP. Among them, Cohere, Mistral AI and OpenAI. In this way, EU AI Cloud offers a solution for the creation, deployment and scaling of AI-based applications. Customers can consume these offerings as SaaS, PaaS or IaaS, and flexibly deploy them on SAP’s infrastructure or that of other European partners.
This collaborative approach also ensures that companies and public bodies can take advantage of AI safely, with full compliance with European standards and with the sovereignty and flexibility they need.
SAP Sovereign Cloud also offers a flexible implementation of EU AI Cloud, and provides full control of infrastructure, platform and software adapted to the regulatory and operational needs of companies. The AI models run on SAP’s software abstraction layer in European data centers.
