After many months of rumors and expectations, and following (very) many leaks, Nintendo finally came out of its silence to officially reveal the Nintendo Switch 2.
A little less than three months after the brief presentation, similar to their presentation in 2017 for the first Switch, Nintendo revealed to us all the information that was expected with the specifics of the console, the new features etc … during a direct Nintendo dedicated to the console.

We now know that the Switch 2 is expected for the June 5, 2025with a starting Price set at 469,99 euros For the standard version, alone. And a price of 509.99 euros For the pack with the game (digital) Mario Kart World. To have all the information, do not hesitate to consult our special file right here.
From now on, make way for the various comparisons. Because yes, since the first Leaks, many players are skeptical about the evolution brought by Nintendo on this Switch 2. with a power relatively close to a PS4 Pro (which dates from 2016), many have trouble seeing a real “new console”. Finally, is this Switch 2 not the famous “Switch Pro” or “Switch 4K” that we expected over two years ago?
Comparatif Switch 2 vs Switch (V1)
On the design part, it is clear that it is very difficult to see many differences. But, at the same time, and for the defense of Nintendo, was it really possible to offer something very different ? By choosing to continue the concept of the console “Hybrid”Nintendo greatly reduced its possibilities in terms of innovation for the aesthetics of the console.
But it is true that it is weird, because in all its history, and since the release of the Nintendo Nes in 1985, Big N has accustomed us to great changes from one console to another, whether with the living room consoles or the portable consoles.
On the technical part now, it is difficult to position yourself since Nintendo has not yet revealed all the information. The first generations of Nintendo Switch offered an Octa-Core processor (4xarm Cortex-A57 + 4xarm Cortex-A53) @ 1020 MHz as well as a graphic processor of 256 cores powered by a nvidia tegra @ 768 MHz Maxwell chip offering a power similar to a PS4 and an Xbox One from 2013. necessarily reducing its power, but still allowing to have beautiful surprises side publishers with successful portes of The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption or The Witcher III : Wild Hunt.
For the moment, the only information shared by Nintendo concerning the bowels of the machine are that the latter has a Custom Nvidia processor. That’s it. In any case, we know that the Switch 2 will be able to make 4K in TV mode (even if we do not yet know if it will be 4K upscale or native). The console can also display 120fps. But here again, we do not know if it will be only in TV mode or if it will also be the case in portable mode.
On the side of the Studios First-Play and exclusives, we also had the right to Very beautiful feats on Switch 1especially in the beginning of the console and its first years, with Technically impressive gameswhether in TV or portable mode. Alas, it must be admitted that on the last two yearsthat became very complicated With games that were no longer really evolving. The most telling example was The Legend of Zelda : Tears of the Kingdomwhich was extremely well optimized, but war more beautiful and impressive than Breath of the Wild Released five years earlier. We don’t even talk about games Pokémon which became the laughingstock of the Internet concerning their optimization and their graphic rendering.
With the preview of the first Switch 2 games, we remain quite skeptical. Some titles like Mario Kart World promise to be pretty pretty with a very nice display distance, sublimated by 4K and HDR, with almost no aliasing (finally). Other titles, such as Donkey Kong Bananza are less impressive. Again, it remains too early in view of the information we have to be able to judge properly.
While waiting for more information on the Switch 2, here is a summary table of the four machines.
Update: May 21, 2025
A few weeks before the outing of the console, Nintendo officially shared the specs of the Switch 2:
- Processor (SOC): NVIDIA TEGRA T239 based on AMPERE architecture
- CPU :
8 cores Arm Cortex-A78C
6 cores used for games
2 cores reserved for the system
Frequencies: 998 MHz in portable mode, 1,101 MHz in Docké mode, theoretical peak at 1.7 GHz - GPU :
1,536 cuda hearts
Frequencies: 561 MHz (portable), 1,007 MHz (docké), ceiling at 1.4 GHz
Graphic power: 1.71 Tflops (portable), 3.072 tflops (Docké) - RAM:
12 Go LPDDR5X
9 GB accessible to games
3 GB reserved for bone
Bandwidth: 68 GB/S (portable), 102 GB/S (Docké)
This allows us to get an idea of improvement in relation to the first switch of the name. Indeed, this Switch 2 is well above the first model of 2017, but the specs are not revolutionary, far from it, especially for a 2025 console.

Unsurprisingly, the specifics of the Switch 2 are well above the previous generation (even if it is still difficult to judge on the raw power without the CPU and GPU info). On the other hand, it is at the level of autonomy that the Switch 2 suffers, offering the least good autonomy of the range.
