Artificial intelligence, specifically agentic AI, is reshaping the software development lifecycle.
In partnership with Celonis SE, Bloomfilter Inc. has been at the forefront of pushing agent-powered business solutions for customers such as Schaeffler AG, known for supplying bearings and automotive parts. Although Bloomfilter is only three years old, the industry has changed significantly in that time.
Bloomfilter’s Erik Severinghaus and Schaeffler’s Michael Eichinger talk with theCUBE about their organizations’ collaboration.
“Three years ago, we thought of software development as carbon-based meat sacks banging paws on keyboards in order to make code happen,” said Erik Severinghaus (pictured), co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Bloomfilter Inc. “Well, think about how the world has changed now. You cannot model the software development process anymore if you can’t model how the agents and the humans are interacting.”
Severinghaus and Michael Eichinger, head of PMT Software at Schaeffler AG, spoke with theCUBE’s Savannah Peterson and Rob Strechay at Celosphere 25, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, News Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed their collaboration and the advantages of process intelligence. (* Disclosure below.)
Where software development meets competitive pressure
Bloomfilter recently announced Celonis for the Software Development Lifecycle and Celonis Agent Miner, which combines agents and humans into one process intelligence graph. These tools have enabled Schaeffler to address inefficiencies in its workflows and improve customer experience, according to Eichinger.
“I would like to really understand how we are working … to improve and to increase the efficiency,” he said. “The similarity is software but the way of working is really drastically different. We have to understand where we are. And if we know where we are, we can go in the direction to improve the right elements.”
Observability into both the agentic and human elements of a company is key to the future of agentic AI, according to Severinghaus and Eichinger. The greatest opportunities lie in highly regulated industries under pressure to evolve. The biggest opportunities lie in companies or industries that are falling behind, but must adhere to strict regulations.
“The only way out of that box is to improve the process because you can’t strip the process down,” Severinghaus said. “We focus on the software development lifecycle use case but we do find that the industries where there’s regulatory and competitive pressure together really creates … a lot of demand for us.”
