AI has changed SEO forever, but not in the (doom & gloom) ways you might think. Sure, AI is bringing new challenges, but it’s also creating new opportunities to get more SEO traffic than ever before.
🔑 AI isn’t replacing SEO. It’s actually making you better at SEO, when used correctly. My 10+ favorite AI SEO tools I’ve built inside RightBlogger (that we’re showing in this video & guide) are already helping 30,000+ bloggers, marketers, creators, and entrepreneurs to get more SEO traffic, rank higher in organic Google search results, be featured in AI Overviews, and more.
If you’re not convinced, I get it. This can all feel a bit overwhelming at times. How do you stay ahead of the curve in a changing SEO world? Well, I’ll show you how to use AI for SEO right now, with practical tools, tips, and techniques that actually work right now.
I’ve found that, as with most things in life, the way we choose to relate to the changes going on around us (much like AI in SEO now), is the point from which our future thoughts, actions, and beliefs are born.
In choosing to view the emergence of AI not as the death of SEO, but rather as merely another rebirth in a long cycle of reinventions over the years—you’ll be setting yourself up for approaching AI tools with positivity & optimism. This is the necessary foundation to finding success in anything. If you don’t believe it’ll happen, it probably won’t. I say, choose to believe 😉

AI in SEO Changes: Understanding the Shift in Search Behavior
We’re seeing undeniable shifts in how people search online, in response to the addition of AI to the SEO party. Although a strong SEO content strategy is still going to deliver you the best long-term results, these considerations are now in the mix, too:
- More Zero-Click Google Searches: Google’s AI Overviews usually do a pretty stellar job of answering quick questions, providing high level insights, and helping searchers decide how they want to proceed with their investigation into a particular topic. They’re still working out a lot of kinks in terms of accuracy, but the trend is obvious—Google will continue trying to answer as many queries as possible directly on their own platform, where they can serve searchers more advertisements.
- ChatGPT SEO: AI chat tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google Gemini, Claude, and even my own RightBlogger Chat are being used to get much more personalized advice, help, guidance—all in a less visually hectic environment (without ads flying around everywhere). The good news is, by focusing on all the same SEO best practices that ladder up to success with ranking higher in Google results, you’ll be positioning yourself well for optimizing your chances of being cited as a source within AI chat tools like ChatGPT, for the long haul.
AI Overviews at the top of Google search results—aka generative search experience—are becoming much more common:
These changes aren’t the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination.
However, they do require us to rethink our approach to SEO & how AI tools can be deployed in the pursuit of generating more SEO traffic. Something that is arguably more possible than ever before.
Why SEO is NOT Dead (But Requires Adaptation)
No, SEO is not dead. Despite the rise of AI, SEO is still one of the best acquisition channels for new customers. BUT, it’s evolving.
👉 What this means: Adapting and learning to use AI strategically for SEO translates as embracing new tools and techniques to stay competitive.
The good news is that free AI SEO tools are more readily available than ever, making it easy to get started with out high barriers to entry.
The examples I’ll be using in this guide (and in the video above) come from tools inside RightBlogger, but the principles apply no matter which tools you’re using. Whether you’re using RightBlogger or another SEO toolkit, these strategies will help you attract more organic traffic. If you haven’t yet though, come try RightBlogger for free and see how our AI tools can help streamline your SEO efforts.

Now, it’s time to roll up our sleeves. I’ve broken this guide down into distinct sections, reflecting the different components of the content marketing process where AI tools are most useful when it comes to SEO today.
Research and Ideation: Finding the Right Topics with AI
AI can help you go far beyond simple keyword research, and jump straight to data-backed insights about what your audience needs help with.
It may sound subtle, but instead of just targeting keywords, uncovering the real problems your audience needs help solving, allows you to tackle genuine challenges from your place of experience. This incentive alignment will set you up for long-term success, rather than short-term traffic gains.
Tool #1: RightBlogger’s Keyword Research Tool
In this example, I’ll start by entering a high-level topic, like “content marketing,” into RightBlogger’s keyword research tool.
After generating a search, the keyword tool will display three pieces of useful information about each keyword:
- Volume: The estimated number of monthly searches. Use this as a general guide, not a source of absolute truth.
- Competition: A rating from low to very high. Prioritize keywords with low to medium competition to rank faster.
- Cost Per Click (CPC): An estimate of what advertisers pay to rank. This indicates the traffic’s potential value, just look to see a value is present here and don’t place too much stock in the actual dollar amount.
I like to filter the results of my keyword search to display low-competition keywords up top, then scan for the ones with the most monthly search volume.
🔑 The “sweet spot” for long-tail keywords: You’ll rank faster (and get more SEO traffic) by pursuing the low-to-medium competition terms, and by focusing on monthly search volume in the hundreds to low thousands.
This positions you to rank for terms that aren’t as competitive but still have real search demand.
Tool #2: People Also Ask (Answering Real Questions)
People Also Ask inside RightBlogger is one of my favorite AI SEO tools, because it uses artificial intelligence to extract the real questions people are asking related to any keyword phrase you type in—pulling data directly from Google’s “People Also Ask” section.
After submitting a keyword phrase to this tool, you’ll get a widely expanded view of all the related questions people are actually searching for on Google, as it pertains to this exact search query—all broken down into different sections based on the intent of the search.
Each of these suggestions are research-backed topics real people are searching for. I know, this rules.
Analysis: Expanding the analysis section gives you suggestions on content formats in order to stand out from the competition—like with this example, it suggested infographics, videos, and blog posts, with actionable examples on how to execute with each format. The analysis also helps you identify opportunities make stronger content than existing competitors.
Tool #3: SEO Keyword Cluster Generator
An SEO keyword cluster expands one topic you enter, into a broad set of categories, each containing different angles for content creation with dozens of specific ideas on how you could approach them.
From my example above, you’ll see that category groupings include sections like:
- AI tools for content creation
- SEO and AI integration
- Personalization and targeting
- Content types and AI applications
The goal of creating keyword clusters, is to map out an actionable game plan for how your site can become highly authoritative on your core topic—by covering it comprehensively throughout a series of different content pieces.
Not only will the real humans coming to your site benefit immensely from this, but you’ll win big in the medium to long-term by showing Google you’re taking education in your space very seriously. This one’s an investment.
Tool #4: RightBlogger’s AI Chat for Brainstorming & Following Up
You can also use RightBlogger’s AI Chat to brainstorm keywords, check monthly search volume, difficulty, and get long-tail keyword suggestions—all in a chat environment where you can ask follow up questions with the data.
A simple prompt like, “Generate a list of long-tail keywords related to AI content marketing and include keyword data (monthly search volume),” can provide a table of volume, competition, and CPC data.
And as I said, the best part about using a chat style tool, is that you can ask follow-up questions to refine your research, clarify information, and turn these insights into copy & paste blog post titles you can use in our next step…
AI-Assisted Content Creation (with a Human Touch)
AI can write a pretty strong first draft given enough prompting & information from you, but AI can’t replace you.
Not in any meaningful sense. Can it spit out legible copy on command? Yes. Will it be a joy to read? Probably not. We’re now in the era of needing to create experiences for your audience, and you need to earn that attention.
As a content creator, you’re the one with the relatable human experiences, stories, and personality—all of this needs to be injected into your AI-assisted writing, if you want it to stand out (and drive any real results for your business).
Using AI as a starting point is ok, as long as you make your way into the content. This is what’ll make you truly connect with your audience.
You can personalize your AI to write in your own style and tone of voice, too. Inside RightBlogger, we built the MyTone functionality to make this process super easy. Just upload writing samples or link up some videos, and the AI will learn to sound like you when it writes.
While this may sound on the surface like a drag to spend time doing, investing time into this step makes a huge difference by adding a much more personal touch to the AI-generated content you’ll be creating. It’ll save time during your editing process, too.
Tool #5: RightBlogger’s AI Article Writer (for SEO-Optimized Blog Posts)
The AI Article Writer is our flagship tool inside RightBlogger, and it’s super powerful (available to use with a free account).
We’ve packed in a ton of SEO best practices into the highly detailed multistep prompting that goes on behind-the-scenes with this AI tool—allowing you to source relevant (royalty free) stock images, fetch relevant internal links & external links, work with real-time Google search data, add all the additional instructions you want… and honestly, a whole lot more. Take it for a spin, you’ll love it.
Using my example here, I started by selecting a project which applies all my favorite presets to this tool, speeding up my creation process. Then, I decided on the topic “best hikes in Joshua Tree,” a keyword phrase I researched & I’ve wanted to publish about on my hiking blog.
Next, I’ll leave the “Edit Outline” option toggled on, so I can fully customize the outline for my blog post in the next step of our creation process. Then, I turned on some of these optional features:
- Include images (royalty-free stock photos)
- External links (to authoritative sites)
- Internal links (to my hiking blog)
- Real-time knowledge (for timely topics or news-sensitive topics)
Also, be sure to select your “MyTone” style, choose the output language, set the article length, and choose the point of view (I recommend first person).
Enter your primary keyword phrase (e.g., “best hikes in Joshua Tree”) and define your target audience (“hikers in the desert” for this one). Finally, add personalized instructions for the outline and article to guide the AI. Seems like a lot of up front effort, but trust me, it’s worth putting in the investment here—your content will be significantly stronger on the other side.
Here’s my checklist for getting your AI blog posts dialed in so they have the potential to drive meaningful SEO traffic to your website:
- Personalize the Prompting Process: AI can’t do critical thinking or draw from your own lived experiences. Your unique perspective is what makes the content you create with the help of AI actually valuable to real humans. AI tools are here to accelerate the creation process and to help with the workload, they’re not a replacement for you.
- Customize Your Outline: You absolutely need to spend time editing the AI-generated outline to ensure it aligns with your vision for the article. If you don’t have a vision for it, take a moment to formulate one (researching competitors is ok to draw inspiration). Then, drag and drop sections of your outline around, edit individual section instructions, and add new outline items as needed.
- Review and Refine Your First Draft: After the AI generates the article, review it carefully. Check for formatting, links, and accuracy. Weave in your own photos and personal touches to add the finishing touch. Your unique contributions are what will set your content apart.
- Edit and Optimize: Use the editor tab in RightBlogger to make changes to the AI-generated content you’ve created. You can highlight text and ask AI to rewrite, summarize, expand, or shorten it. These edits are saved separately from the original article, allowing you to track your changes.
- SEO Meta Data & Focus Keyword Phrase: The SEO tab inside RightBlogger’s Article Writer provides suggestions for your meta title, meta description, permalink, and focus keyword phrase. You can easily copy the primary keyword phrase into your SEO plugin, like RankMath or Yoast SEO.
- Chatting Against Your Content for Follow-Up Ideas: Use the chat feature to create follow-up content. For example, you can ask it to “write one Instagram caption for this article.” This generates captions with emojis and hashtags to help you promote your content on the social media channels of your choice.
Sending Your AI Blog Content to WordPress (or Sharing)
Once you’re satisfied with the article you’ve co-created with the help of AI inside RightBlogger, you can send it directly to your WordPress blog with one click—or you can copy the content (in multiple format options) and paste it into your CMS, or share it with collaborators.
The process will be similar (copying & pasting) with tools like ChatGPT, but you’ll probably run into some formatting mishaps. Not a biggie if you’re doing the occasional blog post with it, but if you’re scaling your content production, this’ll quickly get annoying.
Purpose-built AI writing tools like RightBlogger speed up your process—while you add the expertise, personality, and human touch.
Tool #6: YouTube Video to Blog Post (Repurposing Video Content)
Turn your YouTube videos (or any video with a transcript) into SEO-optimized blog posts using RightBlogger’s YouTube Video to Blog tool. Just paste in the video URL, and this tool generates an SEO blog post with the video embedded near the top, and formatting that’ll set your content up for success.
This is a great way to repurpose existing content and reach a wider audience from the content you’re already creating.
Pro Tip: If the videos you wanna use as source materials aren’t on YouTube, no worries. Use RightBlogger’s Transcript tool to upload any video you’ve made & quickly get a text transcript you can paste into the Video to Blog tool and get to creating your SEO blog post.
SEO Optimization with AI: Ranking Higher
AI can help you optimize both new and existing to rank higher in search engines—without resorting to outdated tactics like keyword stuffing or buying terrible backlinks that’ll torch your SEO reputation with Google in the long run.
Focus on creating high-quality, valuable content that meets your audience’s needs, target less competitive topics (long-tail keywords), nail your SEO fundamentals when you get to optimizing, and you’ll be positioning yourself for inevitable positive results.
Tool #7: Content Gap Analysis (Identify SEO Optimization Opportunities)
The Content Gap Analysis tool has quickly become one of my favorite AI tools for SEO-optimization for a few reasons.
Here’s the quick rundown of how this AI tool functions:
- Insert the link to your article you want SEO optimization suggestions for (compared against your top competitor article for the same keyword phrase you’re going after)
- The tool goes out and does a live Google search to understand what’s ranking higher & tells you why
- Generates a detailed summary of how you can improve your blog post
- Provides clear actionable steps to take, backed with SEO insights about your more successful competitor
The AI behind-the-scenes will figure out why the other article ranks higher than yours, and points out your content gaps, including:
- Missing topics or information
- Lack of focus on specific aspects of the topic area
- Unanswered questions (great FAQ section fuel)
This tool also highlights opportunities to improve your content from a readability perspective, and suggests new ways to fill gaps in terms of the medium you’re presenting your information in. Maybe you need a companion video or infographic in order to successfully compete on this topic? Content Gap will tell you.
Repurposing Existing Content with AI
Repurposing content is simple: Make one piece of content (say a video), then use AI tools to turn it into many more (like blog posts, social captions, a downloadable PDF version, graphics you can share, and more).
AI tools like the ones we’ve built inside RightBlogger for this exact purpose, make this process easier and faster—allowing you to expand your reach and maximize the return on your content investment.
Tool #8: Turning Blog Posts into Video Scripts
Turn any blog post from your catalog of content, straight into an actionable video script you can use to film faster. The script features bullet points and clear guidance for making a stellar video on the topic from your post.
Pair the new video you’ve just made with the existing article on your site to provide your audience with multiple ways to engage with your content—and at the same time you’ll be creating new discovery opportunities for your video to be found on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels & anywhere else it’s published.
Tool #9: Social Media Repurposing
Use RightBlogger’s more than a doze social media tools to generate content you can use to promote your blog posts & videos across different platforms—this’ll really speed up your promotion process. Paste the link to any piece of content and instantly generate social media posts for whichever channels your audience spends time on.
Not promoting the content you’ve created is one of the biggest blogging mistakes you can ever make. AI tools can help you spread the word about your content on all your channels—which builds up momentum over the course of months & years.
Tool #10: Generating Newsletter Copy
Generate first draft newsletter copy based on any piece of content, and this’ll save you a ton of time in promoting your recent post to your email list. Paste in something you want to share and turn it into a newsletter draft.
This tool whips up a snappy subject line and an entire first draft of the copy you can use for writing your newsletter on this topic.
AI simplifies the content repurposing process and expands your ability to reach different audiences on different platforms.
These tools can also inspire new content ideas, so don’t sleep on the benefits of poking around inside a tool like RightBlogger & seeing how it can improve your content promotion game.
Staying Ahead of the Curve with AI and Future SEO Changes
SEO is constantly changing, and AI can actually help you stay more informed & ready to adapt to the inevitable changes that shake out.
The more you use AI tools to help with your SEO game, the more you’ll see these are simply tools that can help you do more, faster. Keep an eye on announcements from major platforms like YouTube & Google, as they often share insights into upcoming AI-powered features inside their products.
Don’t be afraid of AI. Embrace it as a tool to stay competitive, automate repetitive tasks, gather research, and create better content, faster. You have the power to use AI to augment your abilities, not replace them entirely. This’ll allow you to focus more on your zone of genius within your content creation process.
