In the age of artificial intelligence, Lytx Inc. is making its mark with AI-powered transport products that enhance safety and efficiency. The company uses cutting-edge technologies such as machine vision and AI to protect both people and valuable assets in motion, according to Brendon Hill (pictured), senior vice president of product, at Lytx.
“Our goal is to ensure that every journey ends in a safe return,” he said. “We are in the transportation space, and our product is essentially a set of a sensor package that we put in in-vehicle, so a camera … facing outward … facing inward, and we’ve layered on top of this some really great technology around machine vision [and] artificial intelligence, to identify risky behaviors happening on the road within the cab, and we’re able to advise drivers on safety as well as managers and the organizations that we support.”
Hill spoke with theCUBE’s Rob Strechay for the Tech Innovation CUBEd Awards 2025 interview series, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, News Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how AI is reshaping the transportation industry.
Why AI-powered transport products a game-changer
Lytx uses AI-powered transport products to get insights from video because it’s a rich source of data. As a result, AI is proving to be a game-changer in the transportation industry since it optimizes traffic flow, reduces congestion and enhances route planning for logistical purposes, according to Hill.
“We have a long legacy in being excellent at taking this video and interpreting it through AI,” he said. “If you just do the math, we cover every mile of road in the US every five minutes. In the hyper-localized area, we have a customer down in Florida doing construction [and] concrete trucks. In Florida, there’s pockets of fog, so our customers [are] able to actually see the roads right around their centers. Concrete trucks don’t drive very far, but they’re really able to know what the local conditions are, and they can really impact the safety briefings as they talk to the drivers in the morning and [are] getting them prepared for the day. It’s a phenomenal honor.”
Through the implementation of high-frequency experiments and a feedback loop for innovation, Lytx is able to take its AI-powered transport products a notch higher. This is based on the company’s commitment to make the transportation industry smarter, safer and more sustainable, according to Hill. For its innovations, Lytx received a CUBBEd “Top AI-Top AI-enabled Product – Transportation and Mobility” award.
“This particular win is around our ability to bring really hyper-localized weather and other conditions to support the drivers and real-time operations for our customers,” he said. “We looked at our customers’ data and recognized that there was about a 20% increase in claims costs during the winter months. We found that when in the presence of adverse weather, our customers are impacted by north of a billion dollars of incremental loss. We started something called Lytx Labs … we’re able to leverage data and our significant history in AI to really do experiments on the data and bring really high-frequency experiments to our customers.”
