Alibaba has released an AI-native version of its map application. This update, claimed as the world’s first AI-native map app, introduces “spatial intelligence” to enhance navigation and local services for its users. The upgrade features Xiao Gao, an AI travel assistant powered by Alibaba’s Tongyi models, providing personalized journey solutions using autonomous reasoning and specialized tools.
Amap’s comprehensive AI upgrade aligns with one of Alibaba Group’s three-year AI investment priorities announced this February – the AI transformation of existing businesses. Additionally, Alibaba is making significant investments in AI and cloud computing infrastructure, foundational AI model platforms, and native AI applications.
Amap is a Chinese provider of mobile digital mapping, navigation, and real-time traffic information services, offering users a one-stop portal for services including navigation, local lifestyle features, and ride-hailing. It boasts over 1 billion active users. [Alibaba]
