Alibaba is reportedly working on AI-powered smart glasses, with development led by its Tmall Genie team and a launch planned for late 2025, according to Chinese outlet Wellsenn XR. The device will feature a dual-chip setup with Qualcomm’s AR1 and BES2800, aiming for better battery life. Two versions are in the works: one without a display, and an AI+AR version using a green Micro LED and diffraction waveguide optics. The glasses will integrate with Alibaba’s Quark app, powered by the Tongyi large model, supporting functions like smart search, task execution, and dialogue. Alibaba’s previous moves in this space include partnering with AR firms like Rokid and RayNeo, and investing in startup ARknovv, founded by ex-Smartisan and Huawei executive Wu Dezhou.
