The Android tablets market mainly revolves around two axes: an entry and mid -range segment, where many references are jostled, often at contained prices, and a high -end niche, solidly dominated by Samsung, Apple, and some outsiders. In the midst of this big faras, Wacom has always served as an exception, by offering, not classic terminals, but graphic tablets for professional and passionate amateur designers. The market evolves, however, as much as uses. After an ultra-compact tablet for nomads, the brand has just launched its very first Android slab with the Movink Pad 11.
Positioned at less than 500 €the slate intends to seduce young creatives and digital drawing enthusiasts based on the brand’s expertise in stylish and graphic experience, without cropping on the possibilities and autonomy of a classic Android tablet. Bet held?
Design and ergonomics: all in sobriety
When it is removed from its box, the Movink Pad 11 strikes with its minimalist design. Flat slices, slightly roundedremind the memory of the apple, while the device shines with its finishes. We find a back while aluminum flanked by a (very) discreet photo module. Drawing comfort obliges, the latter does not exceed, which allows the tablet to be laid flat. At each corner, there is also a small silicone skate to ensure firm support on most surfaces. With its 588 grams at the weighingit was better to ensure the blow: Newborn Wacom is definitely not a drawing medium that one holds in hand over time, but rather that one comfortably uses installed at its office.
The generous borders around the screen remind us, however, that the Movink Pad 11 does not belong to the category of premium tablets. The brand assumes this small defect: the essential is not there, but in the slab coating, and in its inclusive stylus.
For Pen 3 Inclus
Delivered with a Wacom Pro Pen 3the Movink Pad 11 honors its manufacturer. The ergonomics of the stylus are there, with its three multifunction buttons providing quick access to the change of tool, gum or moving the canvas. If the accessory does not have the possibility of being weighted, as is the case on certain more high-end models, it plays the card of all-in-one. It is indeed possible to open it to access spare mines. Three are included, but it is possible to Buy additional mines on the brand’s official website, from € 14 for 5, depending on the finish. The point of pointers will have the choice, especially since the force of Wacom lies in its Expanded compatibility With many third -party brand stylics, such as Samsung or Staedler.
However, we regret the absence of a magnetic support for the stylus, imposing the purchase of a shell to avoid everyday clumsiness. For a product designed to be manipulated, it’s a bit of a shame.
A screen at the service of drawing
The Movink Pad 11 confirms its ambitions dedicated to drawing. The heart of the Movink Pad 11 experience is its 11.45 inch LCD slab (2200 × 1440px, 229 ppp), treated to imitate the texture of the paper. The matt coating, pleasant under the fingers or the tip of the stylus, is reminiscent of the NXTPAPER 11 slab from TCL, which has already been imposed on the hybrid sector of the reader / multimedia tablet for a few generations.
The screen offers a refresh rate between 60 and 90Hz (non -adaptive), offering a correct fluidity for drawing such as navigation, and its mat cover, particularly pleasant under the fingers, effectively avoids reflections in broad daylight despite a Brightness capped at 400cd/m². Something rare enough to be underlined, the slab does not hang on fingerprints, even after repeated contacts, and the screen seems very solid. So many details that make us confidence for intensive and nomadic use.
A software offer cut for creation
On the system side, Wacom favors Android 14 without overlay, but introduces some house applications thoughts for graphic creation: Wacom Canvas, Wacom Shelf and Wacom Tips facilitate handling (including novices), allowing to crunch a draft of a double-click on the locking button or simple contact of the stylus in standby mode. It is an undeniable advantage: Everything has been designed to facilitate drawing, With a tablet as simple to draw as a paper sketch book.
The real software force remains the integration of Clip Studio Paint, here offered for two years in purchase. This offer is valuable: very complete palette of tools, step-by-way functions, management of layers and models … everything contributes to a semi-professional drawing experience, accessible to the greatest number. We also appreciate the very effective palm-repaction, except when the hand begins to sweat.
In Global, the Movink Pad 11 wants to be simple and effective, even if it quickly reaches its limits when the size of the brush is increased. There will then follow an endless latency, during which the stylus cursor will move on the screen on its own, giving you time to go and check your emails and take stock of your life. Multimedia or photography purists, as well as experienced professionals, will pass their way, but those who draw, scribble and want crunch the world without leaving a kidneywill find a solid companion, carried by Wacom expertise and a very relevant software offer.
Performances: sufficient for use, but without excess
Animated by a processor Mediatek Helio G99 supported by 8 GB of Ram and 128 GB of storagethe Movink Pad 11 is perfectly suited to its targets: graphic creation, web navigation, notes, video viewing. The device supports moderate multitasking (accelerated youtube, navigation, drawing) rather well, but quickly finds its limits when it comes to video games. If the tablet is sold as an Android terminal, it is better not to expect too much on this point. It allows you to draw, and it’s already not bad.
The back camera (4.7 MPx) and the front webcam (5 MPx) ensure the strict necessary. The shots are not very flattering (digital noise, blurred), confirming the positioning of the tablet which is not for photo/video lovers, but rather to those who want to share a Visio or digitize a document on the fly. On this point, it is difficult to hold it against him.
Autonomy and recharge: thought to last
If the tablet remains slow in terms of load (more than two hours to go from 0 to 100%, and a load capped at 16W), its 7700 mAh battery offers excellent endurance, exceeding both days in versatile use (drawing, multimedia, video game). We also appreciate the fact that her stylus is perfectly autonomous. True to the brand’s accessories, the latter is in charge of induction as soon as it is used, never to fall short from ideas when you draw.
Price and availability
Announced at 460€, The Wacom Movink Pad 11 includes two years of subscription to Clip Studio. A definite advantage for all those who want to dive seriously in digital drawing. It is already available on the brand’s official website, and most resellers.
