(RED) confirmed today that Apple will donate $5 for every qualifying purchase made via Apple Pay through December 7. Here’s how you can contribute.
19 years raising awareness and millions of dollars to fight AIDS
Since 2006, Apple and (RED) have been working together to raise funds that go towards fighting to end AIDS.
For a while, the partnership resulted in (PRODUCT)RED devices, which were special-edition iPhones, iPods, cases, and other accessories that carried (RED)’s hallmark color, with a portion of each sale going to the Global Fund.
For the past few years, Apple has focused more on recurring Apple Pay–based fundraising campaigns around World AIDS Day, which is observed on December 1st.
This year, between today and December 7, Apple will donate $5 with every purchase made through Apple Pay at an Apple Store, Apple Store Online, or the Apple Store app.
There is a $3 million cap, and the donations will go to the Global Fund, “a US-based charity, to fight AIDS and help fund critical health programs that save lives.” Per (RED)’s website description.
Over the years, Apple’s partnership with (RED) has raised more than $270 million, which went towards “prevention, testing, and counseling services for people impacted by HIV/AIDS,” according to a 2021 press release from Apple.
