The App Store has no shortage of great games to sink your teeth into, whether they’re cult mobile titles like Candy Crush and Clash of Clans or works released on consoles before arriving on iOS, such as Resident Evil 4 Remake or Assassin’s Creed Mirage. In a few clicks, users can discover the software available to them, install them, then launch them more or less long later depending on their Internet connection.
Obviously, Apple would have the ambition to offer an even more satisfying experience to gamers. The Cupertino company is reportedly preparing a new application dedicated to video games. It would be a cross between the App Store and the Game Center to meet current standards.
Apple would be working on a gaming application combining the App Store and the Game Center
The media 9to5Mac reports that Apple is working internally on a new application serving as a hybrid between the App Store and the Game Center. The application would include a “Play” tab dedicated to launching games, also including suggestions for new titles and even articles. Players could in particular find out about important updates to their favorite works.
The traditional library tab in which the owned titles appear would also be there. Note that games from the App Store, but also from Apple Arcade, supported by the developers, would appear in the store. Enough to easily access the titles of your choice.
9to5Mac reports that Apple is experimenting an integration of FaceTime and iMessage into its brand new applicationprobably to allow communication between players during online games. In addition, the Apple brand would like to let developers offer mini-games based on App Clips. The application would also have a community aspect and would also display challenges and rankings and achievements.
This new app, which acts as a merger between the gaming part of the App Store and the Game Center (which would not disappear), would therefore more or less resemble what PlayStation and especially Xbox offer on mobile. It’s hard to know when it will appear on iOS. 9to5Mac does not mention a release date, but believes it could happen next year either on iOS 18 or in September 2025 on iOS 19.
