We officially know the date of Apple’s back-to-school conference. The brand with the apple is making an appointment Monday, September 9 at 7 p.m.. A very surprising date, especially when you know that Apple conferences always take place on Tuesdays. A change of schedule that can be explained by the presence of a presidential debate on September 10 in the evening. Apple did not want to lose its announcement effect on a day when the news was already going to be loaded.
But this back-to-school conference may not be the brand’s last statement. The Cupertino company is indeed working on new Macs. The computers could be marketed this year, allowing Apple to speak again before the end of the year.
RAM: the big new thing of the year
In a report on the subject, the Bloomberg news agency explains that these new Macs should be equipped with an M4 chip. As a reminder, this processor already appeared at Apple in the spring, in a particularly thin iPad Pro. The other big change on these new Macs should concern their RAM level.
Apple has been offering devices with 8GB of RAM since 2016 (you have to pay for more). But in his Power On newsletter, journalist Mark Gurman explains that the new standard should be 16GB. Some very powerful devices could even go up to 32GB of RAM.
This historic increase would be a first for Apple. For comparison, the latest products with an M3 chip could have up to 24 GB of RAM. The maximum composition could therefore offer 8 GB of additional RAM. A detail that changes everything for the most demanding users.
MacBook Pro, Mac mini et iMac ?
For now, we don’t know exactly the names of the models that are about to come out of Apple Park. Several rumors mention the arrival of new MacBook Pros, but the Mac mini and the iMac are also part of the rumors. As for the smallest of Apple’s computers, Mark Gurman assures that the Cupertino company has worked a lot on its design.
The device should be even thinner and lighter than before. The iMac itself would not be entitled to many modifications, just like the MacBook Pro which should keep a fairly similar shape. It will be interesting to see which model will be presented first by Apple and above all, at what Price. An increase in RAM is not a trivial gesture for the Cupertino company, and the final price of the device should translate it.
