We learned earlier this month that a new Apple store was coming to Osaka, Japan, and the company has today shared photos ahead of Saturday’s official opening. Accessibility is cited a key factor in the store design.

We’ve already seen some funky wallpaper to celebrate the new store. It’s now traditional for Apple to create fun, customized versions of its logo with features reflecting something of the local area or culture, using these to create wallpaper anyone can download for their devices.
Apple has now shown some photos of the new store, which the company says reflects the vibrancy and creativity of the area.
“I am very pleased to open Apple Umeda, a wonderful space that reflects the energy of the vibrant city of Osaka. This new store is a place to walk with creative communities and local businesses in Kansai. The store team is sincerely looking forward to deepening the connection with customers and delivering the appeal of Apple’s products and services,” said Diadora Obra, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail and Human Resources.
The curved store frontage is accessed via a canopied walkway. Apple says that accessibility was a core consideration when designing the store.
Designed based on the philosophy of universal design, Apple Umeda has an inclusive layout that welcomes all customers. The height of the tables and chairs in the store varies, and the passageway is wide so that wheelchair users can move with confidence. For those who use hearing aids, we have a portable hearing group that can be used anywhere in the store, and at the Today at Apple table, you can use the auxiliary hearing group to participate in the session. .
