Following the recent news that Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) will join The Morning Show’s upcoming season, Deadline reports that Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) will also be added to the show’s lineup. Here are the details.
Jesse Williams joins the cast of The Morning Show
As Deadline reported:
The fifth season of Apple TV’s multi-award winning The Morning Show is adding Jesse Williams. The actor will play Vernon, UBN’s newest Head of News, who is known as a brash pot-stirrer with a talent for grabbing and keeping an audience.
Williams, alongside Daniels, will join an award-winning cast which includes Reese Witherspoon (Walk the Line), Jennifer Aniston (Horrible Bosses), Nicole Beharie (Love, Brooklyn), Nestor Carbonell (Lost), Billy Crudup (Almost Famous), Mark Duplass (Blue Jay), Jon Hamm (Baby Driver), and Karen Pittman (Custody).
Crudup, in fact, won Apple TV its first Emmy in 2020, when he took home the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series award, a feat he repeated in 2024.
To date, The Morning Show has been awarded two other Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling and Outstanding Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic), both in 2024. In total, the show has received nearly 30 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations.
The Morning Show wrapped its fourth season last November, and Apple has yet to confirm a return date for season 5. When asked recently by The Hollywood Reporter if there was a change of the season premiering in 2026, showrunner Charlotte Stoudt said:
I think so. I haven’t spoken to Apple about any release dates, but between season three and four there was a writers strike, so that was quite a long delay. So without that this year, maybe we’ll move a little more quickly. That’s when I knock on wood!
