Apple has had a jam-packed March so far after launching seven new products and surprisingly announcing an eighth. Looking ahead, there’s even more to come from Apple before the month is over, including three things to watch for this week.
WWDC 2026 announcement and iOS 27 keynote date expected
There’s a high chance that Apple will announce WWDC 2026 this week. If so, this will also give us the date of when Apple will announce iOS 27, macOS 27, and the other OS 27 software updates. Apple holds its developer conference in early June.
iOS 26.4 will bring 13 enhancements to your iPhone
Apple released the iOS 26.4 Release Candidate on Wednesday, highlighting 13 enhancements coming to your iPhone. The March 18th release date for the RC version likely means we’ll see the shipping version of iOS 26.4 arrive on Wednesday, March 25th.
Apple’s 26.4 release cycle also includes iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS.
Each platform will support eight new emoji characters. The Mac regains a compact tabs option in Safari. Apple TV gains a Continuous Audio Connection setting and a Genius Browse feature.
visionOS brings support for the latest Nvidia CloudXR technology, enabling new gameplay experiences and more. And Apple Watch users will rejoice at a less frustrating Workout app design choice.
It also sounds like Apple has more security updates for devices running older versions of iOS:
Apple says devices running iOS 13 and iOS 14 should update to iOS 15 to “receive these protections and will receive an additional alert to install a Critical Security Update in the next few days.”
We’ll keep you posted on the latest security updates and general software releases.
AirPods Max 2 pre-order starts Wednesday
Last Monday, Apple announced AirPods Max 2 in a surprise move. You can read about everything different between Apple’s previous AirPods Max and the new version here.
Notably, Apple didn’t open up orders for AirPods Max 2 just yet. Instead, Apple says pre-orders will start this Wednesday, March 25th. There’s no firm release date yet, but Apple says to expect orders to arrive in early April.
For now, you can save $100 on the USB-C AirPods Max hardware, but you’ll miss out on the latest software features that we highlight in our comparison mentioned above.
Bonus: Apple’s Gemini-powered Siri and Apple Intelligence features could still arrive this month
While not in the cards for this week, Apple has one more exciting reveal potentially planned for this month.
If Apple follows the iOS 26.3 to iOS 26.4 release cycle, there’s still a chance we could see the first iOS 26.5 beta arrive in March. This is the iPhone software update that is expected to include the first Gemini-powered Siri and Apple Intelligence features.
Apple will reportedly save some of its Gemini-powered work for iOS 27. However, we could see the first features planned for iOS 26.5 arrive in beta a week from Monday, on March 30th.
