One of my most anticipated Apple products is ‘HomePad,’ a new HomePod-type device with a display. But per leaker Kosutami, the wait may be longer than expected.
‘HomePad’ product might not ship until this fall
Rumors have indicated for the past 18 months that Apple wants to expand its Home product lineup.
Right now the company only sells three Home products: Apple TV 4K, HomePod, and HomePod mini.
A new ‘HomePad’ that’s like a HomePod mixed with an iPad has been rumored since late 2024. Originally projected to ship last March, indications are that it keeps getting delayed because of Siri’s AI struggles.
With Siri’s Gemini improvements now reportedly delayed into iOS 26.5 at the soonest, or possibly even iOS 27, it seems the HomePad is getting pushed again too.
Leaker Kosutami posted on X that the product is now expected to launch this fall.
No further details were given, but if the timing proves true, it’s almost certainly related to Siri.
Mark Gurman at Bloomberg has reported that the device is heavily dependent on Siri’s forthcoming AI upgrades, so Apple won’t ship it until the new Siri arrives.
HomePad isn’t the only new Home product in the works, as Apple reportedly has a security camera coming, as well as a video doorbell with Face ID support.
Perhaps Apple plans to roll out its big Home lineup on the biggest stage: the iPhone 18 event in September.
Or maybe it just isn’t confident enough that Siri will be ready before iOS 27 ships.
In any case, it’s disappointing news, especially since there’s still so much uncertainty over Siri’s status.
When do you expect the new Siri to finally be ready? Let us know in the comments.
