A BELOVED fast-food chain is following in the footsteps of McDonald’s with a massive ordering change at 1,500 locations.
Fast-food fans are raving after Jack in the Box installed flip kiosks, similar to those seen in other major chains.

CEO Lance Tucker revealed that, following the launch, sales jumped by an impressive 18 per cent across the system.
The new kiosks are part of the chain’s “Jack on Track strategy,” which aims to improve its digital channels, shut down underperforming locations, and review strategic alternatives.
This digital push has already been adopted by several successful chains, including Shake Shack, Burger King, Popeyes, and Wendy’s.
These fast-food giants have reported a significant increase in order sizes since introducing kiosks in their restaurants.
It comes as major chains struggle to remain open, with the likes of Jack in the Box. Applebee’s and Denny’s dominate the closure list.
Some of the factors, like the changing spending habits of consumers, are not in the control of the restaurants themselves.
OUT OF THE BOX
One of the most heavily impacted has been Jack in the Box.
The chain has confirmed it will shut down 200 locations as part of sweeping measures to reset its debt.
Closures are set to roll out in phases, with 80 to 120 spots confirmed to shut by the end of 2025.
The chain is currently undertaking a new initiative, “JACK on Track”, aimed at improving operations.
CEO Lance Tucker, who took the helm on March 31, said: “Our actions today focus on three main areas.
“Addressing our balance sheet, closing underperforming restaurants, and returning to simplicity,” he said.
To get around its financial issues, the company is aiming to become a leaner machine than ever before.
SUBSIDIARY RESTAURANT SHUTS
The changes don’t stop there, Del Taco, a Mexican-style fast-food brand owned by Jack in the Box, could soon be on the chopping block.
The company has started what it’s calling a “strategic alternatives process” for Del Taco, which may include a sale.
Del Taco operates around 600 stores and is the second-largest Mexican-American quick service chain in the US.
The uncertainty means some fans may soon lose access to their go-to taco shop.
All performance guidance for Del Taco has been suspended indefinitely while the company reviews its options.
During the second quarter, both brands saw a dip in foot traffic and sales.
Jack in the Box closed more restaurants than it opened during the quarter, and the same happened at Del Taco.
The company plans to share more updates during its earnings call in May, but for now, fans of both chains are left waiting to see if their favorite spot will survive the cut.
