A BELOVED home dubbed “better than Lowe’s” has confirmed it will open 13 more locations this year.
Bosses at Home Depot announced the move in a company meeting this week.

Chief exec Ted Decker said: “For fiscal 2025, we plan to open 13 new stores.”
This outpaces last year’s numbers, Ted added, which was also a big year for the company.
He said: “In fiscal 2024, we opened 12 new stores: 10 in the U.S. and two in Mexico.
“We are seeing great results from these stores which are outperforming our expectations.”
The company currently has over 2000 stores across the US – after launching in 1979.
It sells a variety of home improvement items – ranging from appliances, furniture and decorations to DIY tools and materials.
Fans have raved about the chain’s user-friendly policies and customer service.
Taking to Facebook, one said: “Just another reason Home Depot is better than Lowe’s…. RETURN POLICY.
“Have the receipt. Have the order number. Have the card that I used for purchase. Unopened. Nothing wrong with it.
“I’m sorry ma’am your return expired 13 days ago. Eff those guys!!”
The Home Depot dream was conjured up by DIYers Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank in a coffee shop in LA in 1978.
The pair wanted to open huge megastores where Americans could source any of their homeware needs – at affordable prices.
The next year, they opened their first two stores in Atlanta.
And over 40 years later, the company has expanded to more than 2,300 stores across three countries.
The growth is set to continue this year – with a projected 2.8% increase in sales, Ted announced at the same meeting.
The news comes after a Home Depot shopper fumed over a baffling delivery error.
The woman, Angel Orlando, claimed the retailer had bizarrely dropped off 3,000 of sand at their house – which she had never ordered.
And, they company also refused to take it away, she claimed.
Home Depot Items You Can’t Return
Most merchandise bought at Home Depot is eligible for a return and a refund within 90 days of purchase. There are, however, some exceptions:
- Major appliances
- Custom products (paint, blinds, etc.)
- Special order products
- Generators
- Delivery, labor, and installation services
- Product samples
