A BELOVED retailer with “thrift store prices” has opened 19 new stores across 14 states just this month and aims to have 70 more by the end of the year.
Ross Stores opened the 16 new Ross Dress for Less outlets and three DD’s Discounts stores across the country in March.

The discount department store chain, which operates more than 2,200 stores in the US, has said it plans to open approximately 90 new stores during the fiscal year of 2025.
Ross saw its presence expand in Connecticut, Minnesota, New Jersey and New York.
DD’s Discounts on the other hand saw growth primarily in the existing markets of California, Georgia, and Texas.
Executive Vice President Of Property Development Richard Lietz said: “This Spring, we continued to expand the store base of both Ross and dd’s.
“Specifically for Ross, we expanded our presence in the newer markets of Connecticut, Minnesota, New Jersey, and New York, while dd’s growth primarily focused on existing markets of California, Georgia, and Texas.
“We now operate a total of 2,205 Ross Dress for Less and dd’s DISCOUNTS locations across 44 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam.”
He added that the incredibly successful chain aims to grow Ross to having 2,900 locations and DD’s Discounts to 700 stores.
Richard continued: “As we look out over the long term, we remain confident that Ross can grow to 2,900 locations and dd’s DISCOUNTS can become a chain of 700 stores given consumers’ ongoing focus on value and convenience.”
Ross currently operates 1,847 locations in 44 states as well as in the District of Columbia and Guam.
Each store offers a range of brand and designer apparel, accessories, footwear and home fashions, typically at a discounted rate compared to department store prices.
The company also operates 358 DD’s Discounts stores in 22 states which feature a more “moderately-priced” spread of products.
One happy customer described the store as the “best little box retailer in the game.”
They said: “Great apparel for thrift store prices.
Ross stores are widespread across the US although fail to have much of a presence in New England or Alaska.
California has the highest number of outlets, with more than 300, while Texas and Florida fill up second and third respectively, with both having more than 200.
This comes after the discount retail giant was forced to shut the doors to two of its stores forever in January.
Ross Dress for Less shut two stores in Honolulu, Hawaii, with outlets in Fort Street Mall and Keaaumoku getting the chop.
Shoppers at the respective branches had to find out that their favorite discount place was closing after a flyer was left announcing the sad news.
Lisa Shandoria Johnson said: “This location has different items that we can’t find in any other stores so I’m saddened by the closing but I’m sure they’re doing what’s best for the company so we don’t lose the other stores.”
Carolyn Kopecky added: “Personally it’s too bad for the area too because the more closed down the area is the harder it’s going to be, just like the houseless people, and it’s just going to be a little more dangerous if things aren’t running.”
It is not known what has caused the sudden closures and the company has been approached for comment.
Reports also note that a further 15 Ross Dress for Less stores will remain open throughout the state.
