JOE Biden has been heavily criticized online after he was spotted sitting on a pillow ahead of his final speech to the nation.
The bumbling president reeled off his list of achievements and warned Americans about the rise of oligarchs during the 17-minute ramble on Wednesday night.
Pictures from behind the scenes circulated following the speech, and Biden was ripped online for apparently propping himself up.
The small cushion was lodged between the presidential rump and the leather seat.
Biden delivered his speech from the Resolute Desk – the same desk where he addressed the nation days after pulling out of the presidential contest.
A box of Kleenex tissues was also spotted nearby.
Viewers rushed to comment and claimed the shot marked the end of an embarrassing presidency.
“A final moment of utter humiliation,” one critic posted on X.
Another claimed that Biden was like a fighter who had lost every round.
They said that Biden had a broken presidency.
“This is just pitiful to watch,” a third critic slammed.
The pillow and tissues were described as Biden’s emergency kit.
Critics also pointed out that his successor, Donald Trump, wouldn’t need to sit on a pillow when addressing the nation.
Viewers pointed out that Biden seemed to ramble and slur in parts during the farewell address.
Some claimed his address was confusing and labeled it “sour grapes.”
During his speech, Biden didn’t mention Trump by name but spoke of his desire to have a peaceful transition of power.
Trump will be sworn into office on Monday at noon.
Biden warned how the US is threatened by a so-called oligarchy who have unchecked influences.
“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power, and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead,” he said.
“We must not be bullied into sacrificing the future.”
Biden, who ended his re-election campaign last summer, was quick to point out that he played a key role in negotiating a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza conflict.
He explained that the deal was identical to the plan he had crafted last May.
He said that Trump’s team would largely implement it.
President Biden’s speeches from the Resolute Desk
President Joe Biden gave his farewell address to the nation from behind the Resolute desk in the Oval Office.
The last time Biden spoke from behind the Resolute desk, he explained his decision not to run for a second term in July 2024.
Biden has given five speeches from the Oval Office:
June 2, 2023 – On Congress approving the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023, increasing the federal debt limit
October 19, 2023 – On the Israel-Hamas war and the Russian invasion of Ukraine
July 14, 2024 – On the assassination attempt on Donald Trump
July 24, 2024 – On his decision to withdraw from the presidential race
January 15, 2024 – His farewell address
Biden then bizarrely referred to the Statue of Liberty, claiming it is not standing still.
“Her foot literally steps forward atop a broken chain of human bondage,” he said.
“She’s on the march. And she literally moves.”
Biden also highlighted the achievements of his presidency, referring to the creation of 17 million jobs and how Ukraine has not fallen despite Putin’s aggression.
He paid tribute to Kamala Harris and said she and her husband had become family to him.
Biden also paid a gushing tribute to his wife, Jill.
“My deepest appreciation to our amazing first lady who is with me in the Oval today,” he said.
“For our entire family. You are the love of my life and the life of my love.”
