OVER 70 Big Lots locations will reopen in days as the brand claws its way back from bankruptcy and continues its grand relaunch.
The success story of Big Lots is a rare one in today’s scattered retail landscape, but that isn’t slowing it down.

In April, The US Sun reported that Big Lots had kicked off its relaunch of all its 219 spots across the US.
The first wave brought back nine stores across six states including Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
Triumphant pictures posted to social media showed several sets of Big Lots staff celebrating their return.
The caption on one post said: “WE’RE BACK!!!! The first 9 stores opened today with 210 more to open over the next few weeks.
“So great to see so many smiling faces!”
Big banners can be seen in the pictures that read: “THE COMBEBACK STARTS NOW!”
This was met with equally enthusiastic shoppers begging for their local store to reopen.
One person said: “Ours is on the reopen list but who knows when?”
This curiosity was seen in another comment: “Hopefully they will reopen in St.Petersburg Fl at some point.”
And a third demanded: “Reopen your store in Vero Beach, FL, please.”
Well, the time is here, as USA Today reports that more than 70 Big Lots stores are set to reopen in just a few days as the next wave.
A total of 13 states in the US will see Big Lots popping back up.
BACK TO LIFE
This is only possible due to the sale deal that Big Lots made with Gordon Brothers Retail Partners.
As a result, Variety Wholesalers acquired 219 Big Lots stores, as well as two distribution centers.
Variety Wholesalers CEO Lisa Seigies said back in April as the comeback kicked off: “We’re thrilled to bring the Big Lots! brand back to life by offering more deals than ever, lots of famous brands and a new apparel department for the entire family.
“We’re opening stores quickly so we can serve the community.
“We know the stores won’t be perfect to start, but each week we’ll add more new products as we build toward the grand opening celebration in the fall.”

Shoppers anxious to return to their local Big Lots store won’t have much longer to wait before the big day.
The incoming wave kicks off on Thursday, May 15.
Another round of openings is set to take place through early June, but it is not yet known which states this will involve.
It is thought that all of the 219 spots will be open by the fall, just in time for a celebration to mark the moment.
