Web data infrastructure company Bright Data Ltd. today announced the launch of a free version of The Web MCP by Bright Data, an infrastructure layer that allows artificial intelligence agents to interact with the live web without getting blocked.
The Web MCP offers an interface between autonomous AI agents and the open web, allowing for real-time interaction across websites, bypassing CAPTCHAs, geo-restrictions and automated traffic filters, all while returning structured, high-confidence results that agents can act on instantly. The new free solution solves a limitation in agentic AI — the lack of reliable access to web content.
“Agents often fail simply because they lack proper access,” said Chief Executive Or Lenchner. “By making The Web MCP freely available to the public, we’re opening the gateway to the internet that serves both humans and machines alike.”
While the free version of The Web MCP only launches today, the service itself is already powering more than 100 million daily agent interactions. Following a three-month private beta testing period with 15,000 developers, Bright Data is now making The Web MCP available to the public, albeit the free tier is limited to 5,000 requests per month.
The Web MCP is fully compatible with all major large language models and integrated developer environments, including support for locally hosted models, server-sent events and Streamable HTTP. The new free offering also works out-of-the-box with frameworks like LangChain, CrewAI and LlamaIndex.
The offering includes two access modes. Rapid Mode, the default for most agents, is token-efficient and fast, while Advanced Mode offers remote browser capabilities, structured content retrieval and site automation.
Key features across both access modes include real-time web access for instant data retrieval, a web unlocker to bypass CAPTCHAs, bot defenses and geo-fencing, browser control for automating interactions with dynamic sites, structured data output in clean JSON format and plug-and-play integration for MCP-compatible agents.
With The Web MCP, Bright Data enables agents to book travel or retrieve pricing data in real time, analyze competitor activity to generate reports, monitor regulatory and compliance content, aggregate healthcare research and drug availability and track social trends and sentiment for media teams.
Bright Data was previously in the news in July when it introduced a suite of software tools designed to help companies collect information from the public web.
