BRITS will find some extra channels on their TVs starting today – if they know where to look.
Many smart TVs have little-known streamed channels these days, which are beamed into your homes via the internet instead of a traditional aerial, satellite or cable.

LG is one of the big companies that provides this service for free on its TVs.
LG Channels has been around for a few years now with hundreds of hours of bonus content to watch.
And it requires no subscription – all the channels are available to watch instantly.
Today, the firm announced some new content launching for UK viewers.
Top of the agenda for motoring enthusiasts is Richard Hammond’s DriveTribe.
LG has exclusive rights to the popular YouTube series on TVs with a dedicated channel.
Meanwhile, the company is launching yet another own-brand channel called LG 1: Spotlight following the success of its first LG 1 channel.
It is home to beloved classics including The IT Crowd, Burden of Truth, Ash vs Evil Dead, Mary Kills People and Rookie Blue.
Elsewhere, popular radio station TalkSport is coming to LG Channels with a live stream from the studio.
For even more football, there’s Barça TV+, the home of FC Barcelona.
And rugby fans receive access to RugbyPass TV with some live coverage from across the world, as well as original shows like Lomu and The Lost Tapes.
“We’re excited to launch another fantastic round of new content and channels to LG Channels,” said Director Europe smart TV content and services, Matthew Broughton, commented.
“Over the last few years we’ve built a compelling catalogue of content available for free for customers.
“We’re only just getting started as we continue to add first window exclusive content, a range of top quality linear showcase channels and a back catalogue of fan favourites for the whole family on demand.”
LG Channels is available on LG TVs released from 2016 onwards.
You can find it by tapping the dedicated button on the LG Magic Remote or from the home screen.
Stream swapping – the easy way to cut your bills?
Here’s what Sean Keach, The Sun’s Head of Technology and Science, thinks…
It’s no secret that TV streaming apps are costing more and more.
Not only are prices shooting up, but we find ourselves asked to pay for an increasing number of apps and services.
And when you combine those TV bills with your music streaming, mobile and internet fees, and every other drain on your bank account, it all starts to get a bit much.
One of the best ways to cut your TV bills is to simply cancel all of your streaming subscriptions and only sign up to one per month.
Pick an app like Netflix, Disney+, or Apple TV+ and smash through all of the content you want to watch on that app.
Then the next month, swap to something else.
And once you’ve done them all, you can cycle back to the start again.
It’s an easy way to avoid forking out for a rolling library of streaming apps with more content than you could possibly watch.
Also don’t forget that paid-for streaming isn’t the only game in town.
There are loads of apps that don’t cost a penny to enjoy, and downloading a few will unlock thousands of live TV channels plus tens of thousands of movies and shows.
Try apps like Tubi, The Roku Channel, Plex, and Pluto TV to get some ad-supported television without having to pay any monthly fees.
