NFL analyst Maurice Jones-Drew has claimed he would take Joe Burrow over Patrick Mahomes.
Kansas City Chiefs star Mahomes is considered by most to be the top quarterback in the game after winning three Super Bowls in four years.
He has had a slightly mooted season compared to some in previous seasons, but the Chiefs are 15-1 and remain favorites to win it all again.
Despite his stellar track record, MJD believes there is another QB out there he would want – Joe Burrow.
After an injury-hit campaign last season, Burrow has been back to his best for the Cincinnati Bengals this year.
The Bengals are currently on a four-game winning streak and still could reach the NFL playoffs, though they will need to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers and hope the Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos.
Burrow is in the race for the MVP and Comeback Player of the Year awards, as he leads the league in both passing yards (4,641) and passing touchdowns (42).
Burrow has also allowed Ja’Marr Chase to enjoy an incredible season of his own, with the star receiver now up over 1,600 receiving yards and leading the league with 16 touchdowns.
Speaking on NFL Network, three-time Pro Bowler Jones-Drew said: “It’s crazy to say this… but if there’s one quarterback I’d want on my team, it’d be Joe Burrow.
“Because he’s the only one that has beaten Patrick Mahomes consistently, he’s the only one that has taken his team to Buffalo and won in the playoffs, he’s the only one that takes the Ravens on head on and wins, he’s the guy.
“He’s been hurt a ton over the last couple of years but he’s healthy, Ja’Marr Chase is healthy, they’re starting to run the ball a little bit more.
“And then guess what… Tee Higgins is playing!
“You’ve got two No 1 receivers with the hottest quarterback in the game, Joe Burrow and this offense are going to have to carry this team all the way – but they’ve done it before.
“If they make the playoffs, he’s probably going to win MVP if they do that.”
