ChatGPT users struggled to access the chatbot this morning, with OpenAI’s status page warning ‘We’re currently experiencing issues’.
They said they were ‘investigating the issue’, and later updated the page to say things were fully operational again,
Reports on DownDetector spiked shortly after 7.30am this morning, with over a thousands reports so far.
The status page warned that popular large language model ChatGPT was ‘not displaying resources’, saying: ‘We are investigating the issue for the listed services.’
Frustrated users said they could not see responses to questions, and just saw a blank space.
Others said that the AI service appeared to be working on the website, but not the app.
OpenAI rolled out GPT-5 last month, describing it as ‘our smartest, fastest, and most useful model yet, with thinking built in’.
It includes access to reasoning where you can see an explanation of how it reached an answer.
