Nintendo finally dropped their Switch 2 after almost 10 years. The console received a great response from fans, as the new upgrades are really exciting and mostly consist of features fans have been asking for for a while. However, due to high demand and the ongoing US-China tariff situation, pre-orders seem to be halted.
UK Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders
It’s been tough to preorder the Switch 2 since availability first opened on April 8. All retailers that have been offering home delivery are sold out. Only Smyths Toys offers in-store pickup, and a handful of locations have it in stock at the moment. But make sure that you order in as soon as possible if you don’t want to miss out.
US Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders
US pre-orders were supposed to open on April 9, but due to the new tariffs, Nintendo delayed pre-orders in the US, and later in Canada. There hasn’t been any official update since those announcements, but a leak from Target has sparked speculation that pre-orders could begin on April 30. However, take this with a pinch of salt, as there has been no official confirmation from Nintendo.
Canada Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders
Following the US, Canadian pre-orders were also halted, and there’s currently no update on when they might resume. While Nintendo has confirmed that the console is still on track for its June launch, it remains unclear when pre-orders will open again or whether pricing will differ from the original announcements.
Nintendo Switch 2 Pricing
The Nintendo Switch 2 was first announced on January 16, 2025, with a base price of $450 and the Mario Kart World bundle priced at $500. However, new tariffs could lead to potential price hikes for US customers. So far, Nintendo hasn’t made any official statements regarding changes to the Switch 2’s pricing.
Nintendo Switch 2 India Release Date
Nintendo has not announced any plans for an official launch of the Switch 2 in India. Most likely, the console is expected to be available in the Indian market through grey imports. Purchasing through these unofficial channels means that buyers may not receive official warranty support or after-sales service from Nintendo.
