THERE are some massive payments on the line for the players in the Super Bowl.
Members of the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are not only playing to put their names in the history books, but also for a big bonus.
Players on the Super Bowl teams are guaranteed at least a five-figure payout just for participating in the game.
According to Front Office Sports, members of the losing team receive $96,000 at minimum after the Super Bowl.
Players of the winning team will almost double that prize.
Each member of the team that hoists the Lombardi Trophy will receive $171,000.
Notably, one specific player in the game will get no special bonus.
The Super Bowl MVP doesn’t get any sort of added bonus on top of the participation bonuses.
MVPs don’t even get a car anymore like they used to.
The car giveaway was suspended in 2016 after Hyundai became the vehicle sponsor of the NFL.
Players in the Super Bowl are already rolling in the dough.
Every player on the winning roster of the AFC and NFC Championship games gets $77,000.
That means a player who wins the Super Bowl is bringing home an extra $250,000.
Even the losing players are getting a minimum of $173,000.
Many of these players already brought in big bonuses during the regular season as well.
Take Eagles running back Saquon Barkley for example.
He earned $250,000 for being named to the Pro Bowl and another $500,000 for being named to the All-Pro team.
