China’s mobile operator Unicom launches eSIM trial service page · TechNode

China Unicom has recently launched its eSIM (Embedded Subscriber Identity Module) service webpage for smartphones, offers either in-store or home activation as options. The latter is marked as “coming soon,” while the former is temporarily unavailable due to system maintenance. First-time trial users must visit a Unicom store with a valid ID and an eSIM-compatible device for identity verification, while returning users can submit information online to book an appointment. China’s three major mobile carriers (China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom) have recently resumed eSIM services, with brands such as Huawei and Apple testing mobile applications. Commercial rollout is expected as early as the third quarter alongside new device launches, marking a step toward interchangeability between physical and e-SIM technology in China.
