Chinese electric vehicle maker Li Auto on Thursday began taking reservations for the i8 at a pre-sale price range of RMB 350,000 to RMB 400,000 ($48,755-$55,720). The vehicle is arriving in showrooms nationwide from Friday and will be officially launched on July 29. The i8 is one of a slew of new six/seven-seater sports utility vehicles which boast a spacious and upscale interior for passengers to enjoy consistent space across all three rows, alongside NIO’s Onvo L90, Lynk & Co’s 900, and the Tesla Model Y long-wheelbase. Li Auto’s second all-electric model measures five meters in length with a wheelbase of 3,050 millimeters, a size between the six-seater hybrid L8 and the L9, its flagship hybrid SUV. The i8 will have two variants with a driving range of 670 and 720 kilometers (416 and 447 miles) on a single charge, respectively. The company last year delivered just over 11,000 Mega electric vans, its first battery EV, launched last March at a price tag of RMB 559,800 ($77,756). [TechNode reporting, press release, in Chinese]
