Cult chiptune band Anamanaguchi have shared their soundtrack to new side-scrolling brawler. Scott Pilgrim EX – check it out below.
Scott Pilgrim EX is a 2D side-scrolling game that sees players guide Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers though the fractured time and space of Toronto to rescue Pilgrim’s bandmates from the shadowy forces that have kidnapped them. Along the way, players will have to defeat the three gangs that have taken over the city – Vegans, Robots, and Demons.
To soundtrack the chaos, developers Tribute Games recruited Anamaguchi to create Scott Pilgrim EX‘s original soundtrack.
“The sprawling 71-track soundtrack, recorded at Valve Studios in Dallas, TX with Casey di Iorio synthesizes the band’s legendary electronic origins with their fuzzed out garage rock present, while maintaining their unmistakable punchy style,” explains a press release. “Known for resonant world building across past projects, the depth of emotion and the range of styles displayed on Scott Pilgrim EX are uniquely Anamanaguchi, delivering a host of melodically anthemic and new energetic hooks that are sure to pack a punch for both newcomers and old school fans alike.”

The record was written while Anamanaguchi were on the road in support of 2025’s ‘Anyway’ and saw the group using “software designed for older gaming systems (to) uphold the legacy of classic trackers in video game music and chiptune.”
The full album is available to stream now while a 2LP vinyl is available to pre-order via Polyvinyl. Scott Pilgrim EX is out today (March 3) for Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC and PlayStation 5.
Anamanaguchi previously worked on the soundtrack for 2010’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game and scored the 2023 animated Netflix show Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
Shortly after it aired, Scott Pilgrim creators Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski said a second season of Take Off was unlikely. “We’re not working on it. We have no official ideas. We put everything we had into this, and we think it has a really great ending that we’re proud of. I don’t make any plans in general,” explained Grabinski. “Maybe some day one of us will text each other an idea that’s really great for a Season Two. But for now, my entire brain and heart is in this thing, and just getting it out into the world.”
In other news, Pokémon Pokopia has become the best-reviewed game in the long-running franchise.
