Data protection provider Commvault Systems Inc. today announced the launch of the Commvault Cloud Unity platform, a new artificial intelligence-enabled version of the Commvault Cloud platform that unifies data security, cyber recovery and identity resilience across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments.
The new release has been designed to address what Commvault calls a “perfect storm” of challenges: AI-driven data sprawl, increasingly sophisticated identity-based attacks and the complexity of managing multiple disconnected tools. Cloud Unity brings together data security, recovery and identity protection into a single platform that unifies protection, governance and intelligence across all workloads and environments.
The platform’s unified data security layer includes AI-driven discovery, classification and access governance tools that are enhanced with technology from Commvault’s acquisition of Satori Cyber Ltd., with the acquisition having been completed in August. A complementary new cyber recovery feature additionally introduces new AI-powered Synthetic Recovery technology that removes compromised data while preserving clean files.
“Enterprises are facing the perfect storm: nonstop cyber threats, exacerbated by AI, attacks on identity systems and recovery challenges that impact revenues and reputations,” said Chief Technology and AI Officer Pranay Ahlawat. “Commvault brought together the best engineering minds to create a transformative platform release that not only unifies resilience across disciplines and environments but can help customers drive strong business outcomes.”
Commvault is also expanding its Identity Resilience portfolio and has introduced several complementary innovations designed to ensure recoveries are clean, complete and automated. A new Threat Scan Advanced feature identifies Indicators of Compromise in backup data and Synthetic Recovery uses AI to remove malware without sacrificing clean files. Another feature, Cleanroom Recovery, allows enterprises to test, validate and automate recovery processes in isolated environments before returning data to production.
Also new today, Commvault has strengthened its Identity Resilience portfolio with a focus on hard-to-detect Active Directory threats that often underpin ransomware campaigns.
The enhancements detect suspicious changes across AD users, groups and policies and log and audit all changes to allow instant rollback to a trusted state. Commvault is integrating its AD forest recovery tool with Cleanroom Recovery, enabling identity system recovery and testing in isolated, safe environments.
Portions of the Cloud Unity platform and the new recovery and identity features are available now in early access, with general availability planned for early 2026.
The announcements were made at SHIFT 2025, the company’s annual event, which this year emphasizes intelligent automation and AI-driven data protection as essential to enterprise cyber resilience.
