A POPULAR food item at Costco has been changed, and it’s getting a mixed response from members.
Several consumers spotted the adjustment during trips to their nearest location this month.

At Costco’s over 600 warehouses nationwide, the bakery section is fairly popular among shoppers.
Not only does the retailer have seasonal specials that are beloved, but there are consistent offerings like cakes, pies, breads, cookies, and muffins, made from scratch in-store.
Except, the muffins recently had a recipe update, according to what a Costco staffer told a customer earlier in July.
“Today at Covington Costco they had samples of their chocolate muffin,” a longtime member, Connie, wrote in a Facebook post.
“It was very moist, the lady sad they had Changed the Recipe.”
“I guess they are listening to what people want,” she added.
Other shoppers said they also noticed a change in the muffins’ taste from the Costco Bakery section.
“It’s way better! Not the same as the old, but way better than the cardboard they tried replacing it with,” a satisfied consumer commented.
“We got some last night and didn’t realize they changed the recipe. But the husband did make a comment that they tasted way better this time,” another added.
A third called the recipe change a “dangerously good” move.
“Thankfully one step in the right direction,” someone else said.
NOT A FAN
Except, not everyone was a fan of the new muffin recipe.
“Note to Everyone: I would recommend NOT buying Costco muffins,” a frustrated member, Sam, wrote in an X post.
“Since the change they are terrible…I used to buy them all the time but now the are very disappointing.”

Others wanted the size of the muffins to be bigger again.
“Annoyed that Costco got rid of the big muffins they used to sell, only place I could get my muffin fix,” a member also said.
FOOD COURT FURY
Costco also made an adjustment to the food court recently that some members said was “even worse” than they first thought.
Rather than it being a recipe change for a beloved menu option, like the $1.50 hot dog, the warehouse retailer instead stopped calling out order numbers at select stores, according to a social media post from a furious shopper.
“My local Costco recently stopped calling out order numbers,” they wrote.
“So last time I was there a whole bunch of people were just standing around waiting for the number to be called.”
“Eventually somebody saw this tiny sign that they’re not calling out numbers anymore and so people formed a rough line which then grew quickly as they very slowly got out one order at a time,” the shopper continued.
“It was not great and not efficient.”
Someone else blasted it as “slow and stupid.”
A third said they waited 10 minutes for a hot dog and Coke.
Costco shoppers were also left demanding answers recently over a “scanning” checkout change.
The warehouse retailer also launched three new products in July that are listed for cheaper prices than Prime Day.
