COSTCO has sparked a frenzy as shoppers camped out in the parking lot for days, eager to score a bargain deal.
Bargain hunters braved heavy rains to claim their spot at the new store opening in Pleasanton, California.
One shopper reportedly flew in from Hawaii, determined to be among the first through the doors.
Costco, however, sent the early campers packing, saying they couldn’t allow lines to form until the day of the grand opening due to the company not yet having “occupancy” of the area.
That didn’t deter eager customers, many of whom returned bright and early Wednesday morning for their chance at exclusive deals.
Much of the excitement centered on limited-edition bottles of bourbon, a staple of Costco’s grand openings.
Shoppers were vying for bottles of Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon priced at just $59.99 and Eagle Rare 10-Year Bourbon for $32.49—prices significantly lower than what other retailers typically charge.
For context, Blanton’s often sells for as much as $150, while Eagle Rare can fetch over $60.
Pleasanton Mayor-elect Jack Balch previewed the store ahead of its opening, sharing photos of the sought-after spirits on social media.
The buzz around these high-end items added to the anticipation, with users calling the prices “too good to pass up.”
Costco’s reputation for offering grand-opening exclusives has built a loyal following.
A similar scene played out last month at a new Napa location, which featured the chain’s largest wine selection to date.
The Pleasanton location, years in the making, has been a highly anticipated addition to the Bay Area.
Plans were approved back in 2017, making this weeks opening a long-awaited event for Costco enthusiasts.
Whilst some online users claim it was “worth the wait” others have admitted they would “never dream of camping outside the store”, no matter how tempting the bargain may be.
Meanwhile, a Costco customers could get paid upto $2,500 to shop at the store.
Costco shoppers will soon be selected and paid thousands of dollars to try popular items at the retailer.
Gambling hub online-casinos.com has launched the Kirkland Signature Sweet Life Challenge for two lucky winners.
The duo will then spend a week “living on as many Kirkland Signature products as possible.”
“Are you the ultimate Costco connoisseur? Ya know, the one whose house is furnished top to bottom in Kirkland swag?” the ad asks.
“If so, we may have an opportunity that’s right up your alley (or aisle).”
Entrants must be over the age of 18 and submit their application by December 15.
