In 2023, Mickey’s streaming platform invited us to rediscover the great classics of the Goosebumps saga with a rather convincing modern adaptation. After an almost too childish feature film from Sony in 2015, Disney then reimagined the terrifying tales of RL Stine in a teenage series style. Halfway between Riverdale et American Horror Storythe first season of Goosebumps on Disney+ has established the foundations of an effective, if somewhat timid, new recipe. The positive feedback from the public was enough to guarantee a second round of episodes, which has just entered the platform this Friday, January 10, 2025.
Season 2 unfortunately missed the Halloween period, which could have given it a significant boost. But it is clear that the new part of the series Goosebumps doesn’t need spooky season to get our attention. With a star from Friends in the lead (David Schwimmer) and a completely new New York environment, the program does not lack strong arguments. But the main asset of this second season lies in its structure. No one will be lost with these episodes, not even new viewers. Now, Goosebumps fully deserves the title of “American Horror Story de Disney” since this is also an anthology. Season 2 is entirely independent from the previous one: you therefore do not need to see the previous one to start this one. The new format of 8 episodes (compared to 10 previously) is particularly conducive to binge watching, enough to make the program your weekend series.

But Goosebumps season 2, what is it about?
Once again, Disney used several books from the saga to trace the common thread of the scenario. Spectators will be able to (re)discover the events of the following novels: Basement prohibited, The Haunted Car, They sang monsters, The Girl Who Screamed at the Monster, The Ghost Next Door et The camp of fear. The association of these new cults gives rise to a new mystery. A strange disappearance that occurred in the 90s returns to haunt the new characters in the program.
The story follows the adventures of twins Cece and Devin Brewer (Jayden Bartels et Sam McCarthy) who, during a summer stay with their father in Brooklyn (David Schwimmer), find themselves immersed in a three-decade-old enigma. Accompanied by their friends Alex, CJ and Frankie, they investigate the mysterious disappearance of four teenagers in 1994 in the historic district of Gravesend.
Under the creative direction of Hilary Winston and Rob Letterman, this collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and Disney Branded Television studios amply honors the works of RL Stine, while offering an approach more suited to the new generation of viewers. All 8 episodes of Goosebumps season 2 are already available in their entirety on Disney+. As a reminder, the platform is no longer included in Canal+ packages and requires a full subscription.
