A LONGTIME Dollar Tree customer has spotted price increases on several items, leaving them fuming.
The discount retailer is known for its budget-friendly costs that hover around $1.25 on the low end.

Except that could be changing to around $1.50 for select merchandise, according to recent TikTok video from superfan Kim Rizzo (@lovekimrizzo).
“Dollar Tree I am so freaking mad at you right now,” Kim said while walking around her local store.
She quickly explained the “beef” she had with the chain, claiming that some costs on plastic items had increased by at least 25 cents.
That included the “beloved” and viral plastic cups with sip lids.
“Say it isn’t so!” she cried.
Plastic racks and food storage containers were also set to increase, according to the influencer.
Egg holders and spice rack holders made from plastic were even pointed out by Kim as increasing in price soon.
MAKE IT STOP
She cited tinfoil had an increased price of $1.75, which was visible for viewers on the tags for several products, including Reynolds Wrap.
That’s a 50-cent uptick from $1.25.
“This has been this way for maybe like two months,” Kim explained.
Not everything was increasing as expected, however.
Kim noted that while some customers had claimed batteries had increased by 25 cents at their Dollar Tree, the influencer still spotted $1.25 price tags.
“A lot of you guys mentioned batteries going up to a $1.50, I don’t know if that’s going to be this brand,” she commented.
Glassware was another product area called out by Dollar Tree shoppers for a supposed price increase.
Dollar Tree pricing
Despite the name of the store, Dollar Tree recently added items that cost more than $1 to its inventory.
Most items at the store cost no more than $1.25, but items in the Dollar Tree Plus section cost up to $5.
Dollar Tree introduced Plus aisles to 100 locations in 2019 as part of an effort to diversify its products.
By 2022, Dollar Tree had added the items to over 1,500 locations.
“We believe testing additional price points above $1 for Dollar Tree products will enable us over time to expand our assortments, introduce new products and meet more of our customers’ everyday needs,” president and CEO Michael Witynski said in a statement.
“Our brand promise is that customers get great value for what they spend at Dollar Tree. We will continue to be fiercely protective of that promise, regardless of the price point.”
That included wine glasses, shot glasses, martini glasses, margarita glasses, and everyday glasses.
Kim’s store still had them at $1.25, but some have been spotted at $1.50.
All cleaning supplies were also cited by Kim as going up to $1.50.
That included everything from dish soap to laundry sheets and disinfectant wipes.
Kim also isn’t the only influencer to call out the alleged price hikes, as Sway’s Deals made YouTube video earlier this month pointing out similar $1.50 upticks instead of $1.25.
The US Sun has contacted Dollar Tree for comment.
OFFERING VARIETY
Dollar Tree did change its pricing strategy in recent years.
While the primary price point is $1.25, there are $1.50, $1.75, $3, $5, $7, and even $9 merchandise in some stores.
The change was made to accommodate a larger variety of products and to cater to more customers.
Some of Dollar Tree’s over 8,700 nationwide have more $5 to $9 products while others stay around $1.25.
A shopper also recently visited one of the largest Dollar Tree stores in the US, and even $20 workout gear was just $1.25.
There are five items at the discount retailer that are ideal for summer and much cheaper dupes of products sold at Pottery Barn.
