Three years after the last opus, Battlefield 2042the license is about to return and intends to make a return to its roots for win back the hearts of fans. With this upcoming game, the goal is to offer fans a modern experience similar to the games Battlefield 3 (2011) and Battlefield 4 (2013).
Battlefield is back (well almost)
It was during an interview given to IGN that Vince Zampella, the Director of Respawn has officially announced that the next installment of the saga Battlefield was in preparation. After the failure of 2042, with its many bugs, its bad balance and its strategy that clearly went against the players (like the integration of specialists and the abandonment of the class system), the game will not have never managed to get up and achieve the goals set.
Of course, Electronic Arts has learned (apparently) from its mistakes and intends to learn so as not to repeat them, especially with this new opus. Vince Zampella thus evokes a desire to back to the sources and to offer players and fans a game in line with the most popular installments of the saga : Battlefield 3 et 4.
If you look at the heyday of Battlefield, it was the Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 era, where everything was modern. I think we need to go back to the core of what Battlefield is and do it incredibly well, and then we’ll see where that takes us. (…) The return to the modern setting is a course correction for the series after Battlefield 2042, which finally found its feet, but was widely criticized for things like Specialists (…) Specialists are not coming back. Classes are the core of Battlefield, and we’re going back to that (…) We have a program that we’ll announce next year that’s focused on engaging the community more, because that’s kind of the crux of what we need to do – get the community back on our side, rebuild trust.
The appointment is therefore set for 2025 for first details and information. In addition to the interview, a first concept art was sharedallowing us to discover air, land, sea combats and a MAP that seems completely destroyed. Could Electronic Arts be preparing the real return to the top of its saga? Answer in the coming months.
