Now the 33-year-old has announced on social media she has autism – which she calls a “gift”.
The ex-Major League Soccer presenter said the medical revelation “has completely changed my life and the way I understand it”.
The Canadian was a children’s TV show host until covering the MLS and working for Fox Sports 1
Bonnetta switched to the NFL Network in 2021, including covering all the major events, such as the Super Bowl, NFL Honors and NFL Red Carpet.
But she left the network two years later – becoming a stand-up comedian.
And amid all those career moves her desire to know more about some long-running personal issues remained as strong as ever.
Bonnetta explained on Instagram: “I have always felt so much confusion about who I am, what I feel and why I feel the way I feel and I finally got the answers I’ve been looking for since I was a kid.
“I set out on a bit of a journey the last 8 months to learn more about my brain.
“I wanted to know exactly what was going on and after a lot (of) testing I was diagnosed with OCD, ADHD, ASD + PTSD (ok fun?).”
She then appeared to object to the claim of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Donald Trump’s Secretary of Health of Human Services, that there is an autism “epidemic”.
Bonnetta wrote: “RFK JR saying autism is an epidemic is LOL.
“Remember when depression and anxiety was such a taboo thing…. Girl, now we all got it.
“Thanks to continuous research we are finally able to understand our brains and that information helps us navigate the world.
“So yes, diagnosis numbers are up but autism has been here a looooong time and it’s beautiful.
“It is a gift and I feel so lucky that I get to experience this funky ass lil brain.”
