Ferrari’s chief executive Benedetto Vigna on Feb. 14 visited the headquarters of electric vehicle maker Leapmotor in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou for a meeting with its founder Zhu Jiangming, fueling speculation of a potential partnership between the two companies. According to multiple reports by Chinese media outlets, one photo appears to show the scene that Vigna scanned a code provided by Zhu with his smartphone outside of a building. TechNode was unable to verify the authenticity of the photograph. The news comes just days after the Italian luxury sports car maker said it is planning to launch its first fully electric car at a capital markets day on Oct. 9 in Maranello. Hong Kong-listed Leapmotor has been backed by Stellantis in two years after the European car giant announced a €1.5 billion (nearly $1.6 billion) deal for a 20% stake in the Chinese EV maker in late 2023.
