Ruckus Games, a Frisco, Texas-based studio made up of former veterans of Gearbox Software, Bethesda Softworks and Epic Games, has announced its formation. It is currently developing an untitled suburban invasion game that combines RPG elements, crafting, city building and more.
“We want games that people can enjoy from the start,” said Paul Sage, CEO and game director of Ruckus Games, in a press release. “Games that are physical and joyful and just a damn good time to share with others. We can’t wait to show you what we have in store.”

In 2021, seven developers saw an industry willing to take risks on huge budgets and recycled mechanics, but unwilling to take risks on new gameplay and experiences for players. Ruckus Games is already setting itself apart from the competition and recently secured $19 million in funding to bring their vision to life. Remarkably, investors were sold on Ruckus’ premiere project after playing just 20 minutes of the vertical slice demo – a particularly impressive feat for a prototype created by just 14 people in 12 months!
This new title offers cooperative play for up to four players in an evolving world that will be updated over time with new, emerging content. Set in an era reminiscent of the American heartland, players are placed in the shoes of ordinary people who are forced to become heroes when the city is attacked. It’s not clear what’s behind the strange events, and things don’t quite seem to add up.
Featuring a host of playable characters and thousands of unique, makeshift weapon combinations – such as a toaster equipped to shoot saw blades or a modified pressure washer turned flamethrower – players can ‘split, grab and grow’ as they battle their way through exciting thrilling adventures. suburban invasion scenarios.
