Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III will join veteran announcer Jason Benetti for the 2025 season.
RG3 was fired from ESPN in August 2024 after spending three years at the network.
FOX Sports president of production & operations and executive producer Brad Zager announced in a press release, “Robert is one of the most electrifying and unforgettable athletes in college football history.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have him join Jason in the booth and bring his analysis and passion for the game of football to FOX Sports.”
In addition to a commentary role, Griffin III will bring his “Outta Pocket with RGIII” to FOX.
Griffin said he is “honored to join the FOX Sports family and excited to celebrate the game of football while working with some of the best people in the business telling the stories that matter.
“My goal is to bring that authentic perspective to every broadcast, helping fans understand not just what’s happening on the field, but why it matters and what it means to the young men chasing their dreams.”
Robert Griffin III was previously released alongside sportscaster Samantha Ponder from ESPN.
RG3 had two years remaining on his contract, with reports suggesting that he was let go due to “budget cuts at the network.”
The 35-year-old was surprised, reacting to his firing on the Rich Eisen Show.
“I had already been assigned a team for college football.” RG3 explained.
“It hurt me for them, not because they need me because they don’t.
“That’s the thing about this business, nobody needs anyone.”
RG3 boasts an accomplished college football career as one of only three players in FBS history with over 10,000 passing yards.
He was also awarded the Davey O’Brien and Manning awards from his standout 2011 season where he led the team to a 10-3 record and a win in the Alamo Bowl.
