The Iliad group (Free in France, Iliad in Italy and Play in Poland) announced impressive results for the year 2024. It is a historic year for the group which exceeded two important thresholds: 50 million customers and 10 billion euros in income. Thanks to this, Iliad rose to 5th place in the largest telecom operators in Europe, confirming its strong growth on the continent for the second consecutive year.
This success is explained by a good increase in income from the whole group (+8.5 %). Iliad has managed to win new customers (2 million) while increasing the value of its offers in the countries where it is present: France, Poland and Italy.
In France, Free once again attracted many customers, becoming the first operator for the recruitment of new subscribers both for the landline and mobile phone. In total, 668,000 new customers joined Free. This allowed Free to increase its income by 8.2%. In 2024, Free also distinguished itself by launching Wi-Fi 7 and 5G SA in France, enough to put pressure on its main competitors. The ISP is also the one that offers the most impressive flows, according to the last list of ADSL & Fiber zone.
Solid growth and conquest of market share in all countries
Poland also performed very well with an increase in its income by 9.7%. The Play group, a subsidiary of Iliad in Poland, has won market share on mobile and has progressed well on the fixes despite strong competition.
In Italy, Iliad Italia continues to attract new mobile customers. For the seventh consecutive year, Iliad Italia is the operator who has recruited the most new mobile subscribers (906,000). The company has also managed to attract many customers for its internet fiber (142,000 new subscribers). For the first time since its launch in Italy, the mobile activity of Iliad Italia has generated more money than it spent on its investments in the fiber.
Beyond the growth in turnover and the number of subscribers, the economic model of the Iliad group improved considerably in 2024. The before tax and depreciation profit increased by 11.8 % to 3.85 billion euros. In addition, the group generated much more money than it spent (+28 % at 1.83 billion euros). This allowed Iliad to strengthen its financial situation.
With these good results, Iliad aims to continue its growth and further improve its profitability. For the year 2025, the group aims to target 2.0 billion euros in operational cash flow (money generated by activity once the current expenses paid).
