Github Copilot, the AI assistant for programming tasks, already has More than 20 million users. Therefore, a record figure that reflects on the one hand the massive adoption of this solution is reached, integrated by default in the Visual Studio Code (VSCode) editor, on the other the rise of development tools based on artificial intelligence in professional and corporate environments.
The data has been released by the company’s CEO, Thomas Dohmke, coinciding with the presentation of the financial results of the fourth quarter of the 2025 fiscal year of Microsoft. According to Dohmke, the growth of Github Copilot has been constant and sustained, with more than five million new users in just three months. In addition, more than 90% of Fortune 100 companies already use this tool in their workflows.
It is particularly notable that The adoption rhythm has been especially notable in the business segment. Thus, Github Copilot Enterprise, the corporate version of the tool, has increased its client base by 75% compared to the anterior quarter. A growth that is accompanied by a parallel increase in the projects of the houses on the platform and that according to the company’s data have more than duplicated in the last year.
Github has also highlighted the intensive use of its code review agent, which already performs millions of reviews per month, as well as stressing the role of new functionalities as a key factor in Copilot’s consolidation. Among others, the so -called “autonomous coding agent”, thought so that developers can delegate repetitive tasks and focus on the exploration of ideas and the improvement of their projects.
Only in the last year Github has launched more than 230 co -pilot updates, making itAt first multimodel solution from Microsoft, thanks to alliances with OpenAi, Anthropic and Googlesays Dohmke. As recent outstanding novelties are the synchronous agent mode in VSCODE, the free copilot availability for millions of users and the integration of tools such as Spark, or Github’s native agent. And all this is just the beginning.
In fact, it is worth clarifying, given that the free Github Copilot modality is extremely limited, with just 50 applications of agent or chat per month -and up to 2,000 completed code, although there are tools with which to supply this functionality -, so it has all the meaning that a good part of those millions of users are in the payment plans. It will be more known in the next Github Universe, scheduled for October.
But not only Github lives Copilot, and that is that Microsoft goes for all with co -pilot in Edge: the existing integration was just an advance of what is coming.
