There’s nothing more frustrating than seeing a series come to an abrupt end. There is no shortage of examples of production cut down in mid-flight, 1899 has Shadow and Bone. If Apple TV+ seems somewhat spared by this phenomenon – which wants platforms to be more careful about the success of their productions – the future of Silo is far from being completely mapped out. It must be said that the narration takes its time, still adapting the events of Hugh Howey’s first work. We could therefore fear, in the event of poor audiences, that the series would end before being able to reveal all its secrets.
While the second round of episodes is currently being broadcast, the Apple subsidiary is formalizing its renewal. In a press release, the company explains having given the green light for a season 3…and even a season 4. The latter will conclude the journey of Juliette and her friends from Silo 18. Creator Graham Yost is delighted with such news:
“Adapting Hugh Howey’s novels in partnership with Apple has been an incredibly rewarding experience and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell this story in its entirety over four seasons. With the final two chapters of Silo, we look forward to delivering an audience-satisfying conclusion, providing answers to the many mysteries and questions that lie behind the walls of these silos.”
20 new episodes and an ever more mysterious quest on the origins of these immense infrastructures, Apple TV + subscribers have a reason to rejoice to see the series considered one of the strongest propositions in the Apple TV + catalog continue. If the company obviously cultivates mystery as to the narrative elements that will be summoned, Yost’s statements suggest that all the secrets of the postapocalyptic universe will be revealed.
Still the first volume?
Since its launch in 2023, Silo has focused on telling the first book in the literary saga imagined by Hugh Howey in 2013. If things progress on the small screen, there is still a lot to be addressed. We can therefore expect that the next bursts of episodes will still focus on this. But the writers could also have the idea of drawing elsewhere in the literary saga to add a little intensity to the series. We can, for example, imagine that a few chapters of Silo : Origines be used to tell the story of how the silos were created and for what purposes. Generationsthe third novel, would also make a perfect conclusion.
Note that season 2 of Silo will end on January 17 on Apple TV+. The series is broadcast weekly, with a chapter every Friday. Concerning the launch dates of seasons 3 and 4, the platform says no more. A little more than a year separated the first two salvos, the actors’ and screenwriters’ strike delayed the process, we can hope that the appointment will be made for the end of 2025 with the saison 3 and therefore a year later for season 4.
