Google Cloud has announced that Spain and the United States will link with a second underwater cable. It’s about sunwhich will also go through the Azores and Bermuda Islands. Sol will be manufactured in the United States and, when finished, Spain will join with Florida. On the Spanish side, Google Cloud has the collaboration of Telxius to offer the necessary infrastructure of sunlight in Santander, which will mean a greater integration of the Google Cloud region of Madrid with its global network.
When in service, Sol will reinforce the capacity and reliability of the network of 42 Google Cloud regions worldwide, a figure that is increasing. Its deployment will help meet the demand for Google Cloud and IA services by its customers in Europe and the United States, among other regions, since it will add capacity, improve reliability and reduce latency for Google users and Google Cloud customers.
Sun’s announcement arrives four years after the arrival of Grace Hopper, a cable that connects the United States with Spain and the United Kingdom.
