Google Gemini’s popularity has been soaring high since the viral Nano Banana trend has taken over the internet. Google recently added multiple new features the chatbot, including the Nano Banana AI image editing tool. This might have pushed the Google Gemini app on iOS to reach the first spot on the Top Free Apps chart in the Apple App Store in several countries, including India and the US. This is the first time Google’s AI chatbot app has recorded this feat. Earlier, ChatGPT and DeepSeek have also peaked at the top of the App Store.
While there is no confirmation about the same, but this achievement could be a result of the recently introduced Nano Banana update in the Google Gemini app. The AI-powered image editing tool was added to the chatbot at the end of August. The popular feature has already taken the internet by storm. It allows users to upload their image and turn them into stunning portraits, action figurines, and more – by giving creative inline edit prompts. The AI feature has become popular for its quick results and consistency over the character details.
The Nano Banana feature is also capable of removing a few elements from the uploaded image, while keeping the rest of the image – including the subject – consistent and accurate. Most AI models struggle with this and end up distorting or altering the character.
The Nano Banana feature is available to all Gemini users – including those on free tier. Paid users, however, have access to higher rate limits for generating edits. Google also added visual guidance in Gemini Live and a redesigned prompt bar in the Gemini app.
