Laka, a London-based insurtech business specialising in green mobility, has announced a Series B fundraise of £7.7m.
The firm provides insurance services across a variety of sustainable transport methods, with its flagship product covering bikes, e-bikes and e-cargo bikes.
Laka offers a collective-driven insurance model, meaning each month’s claims are shared amongst its collective of cyclists.
With an initial focus on cyclists, Laka has more recently been expanding to a multi-vertical green mobility insurance platform, with coverage now including e-scooters.
Now backed by Series B financing, the company is making a push towards profitability. Along the road to profit, Laka is planning a “significant debt financing agreement” in the coming months to fund its acquisition pipeline and is considering seeking an additional extension round in 2025.
“Reaching this milestone marks a pivotal moment in Laka’s journey – it’s a testament to the trust we’ve built with riders, retailers, and corporate partners across Europe,” said Tobias Taupitz, co‑founder and chief executive of Laka.
“This new financing will enable us to deepen that trust, expand our category‑defining role in green mobility insurance, and build towards profitability, while pursuing further acquisitions that consolidate this fragmented market.”
Laka operates in the UK and across nine markets in the European Union.
Its Series B round was co-led by Shift4Good and MS&AD Ventures.
“As sustainable transport and micro‑mobility expand across Europe, the need for seamless, customer‑centric insurance has never been greater,” said Matthieu de Chanville, founding partner at Shift4Good.
“Laka is positioned to lead this space, aligning interests between riders, retailers, and insurers, and tackling the fragmented nature of the market head on. We’re excited to support their next chapter of growth and to help unlock the full potential of the green mobility revolution across the European continent.”
Additional funding came from Ponooc, Achmea Innovation Fund, Autotech Ventures, Motive Partners, Creandum, LocalGlobe, 1818 Ventures, and Republic (formerly Seedrs).
