Hands-on with Anker’s 14-in-1 MacBook docking station: Save 30% for Black Friday – 9to5Mac

Recently, Anker announced a new collaboration with Black Myth, and they’re slowly rolling out a number of limited-edition themed products around that. First of which is their 14-in-1 DL7400 desktop dock, which I’ll be going hands on with.

For Black Friday, you can save up to 30% on Anker’s DL7400 desktop dock – bringing it down to just $209.99 for the standard version and $271.99 for the flashier limited edition collab.

Product overview

As mentioned, this dock offers 14 ports. Theres a 10Gbps, 140W USB-C uplink port for connecting to your Mac – alongside 3 additional 10Gbps USB-C ports on the front for connecting your devices. It also offers an SD and microSD slot on the front, plus 3 USB-A, 2 HDMI, 1 DisplayPort, and an audio jack. There’s also a 2.5GB Ethernet port to put the cherry on top.

That’s a lot of ports. Many of which will come in handy if you’re using this with a MacBook Air or iMac, which both only offer USB-C ports for connectivity. Plus, this dock pushes up to 140W of power, providing a fast charge for your connected MacBook.

Another massive feature of this dock is its ability to push three displays through DisplayLink – all over one USB-C cable. It can support one display at 8K, and two at 4K. It’s highly capable, and if you have an earlier generation Apple Silicon Mac that only supports one external display, you can circumvent that limitation with the DisplayLink capabilities on the Anker DL7400 dock.

There’s also a neat LCD screen that provides information on charging speeds and port connections. You can also adjust some settings with this display and a dial on the side.

First impressions

As for the limited edition design, it’s rather stunning. Admittedly, I know nothing about the Black Myth Wukong series, but the design still looks neat – and it’s certainly nice to have some level of flair versus a plain gray design. Unfortunately though, Anker does charge a bit more for the limited edition version.

Design aside, I’ve found the Anker DL7400 quite useful. I’ve mostly angled this article around the idea of using it with a MacBook, since that’s what most people use desktop docks for, but I’ve been enjoying it with my 24″ iMac as well. It’s certainly cleaned up a lot of my desk clutter, and now all of my cables can flow through one simple dock.

If you’re interested in the Anker DL7400 desktop dock, you can currently pick it up in its standard theme on sale for $209.99 on Amazon. For the Black Myth limited edition version, you can pick one up for $271.99 on Amazon. These are both excellent prices, and will only last during Black Friday weekend.
