If you’ve searched for anything on Google recently, you’ll have spotted that your results page is littered with AI summaries and large shopping carousels. The general consensus is that Google results are getting worse by the day and, as a publisher, we have to agree.
The truth is, we rely on search engines like Google to platform our content, but over the last couple of years, our visibility – like so many other publishers – has dropped considerably. That’s why we’re asking you to help us.
Earlier this year, Google rolled out an update that allows users to select preferred sources in Top Stories – that’s the carousel for news when you search for certain things. By adding a website to your preferred sources list, Google will prioritise showing content from your favourite websites in Top Stories, as well as in a new “from your sources” section.
So if you like reading Trusted’s takes on the latest products to hit the tech world, our weekly columns like Fast Charge and Smarter Life or the latest breaking news, do us a favour and set us as a preferred source.
You can do this by clicking this link here and checking the box on the right. You can also add other domains you want to see in your feeds here too, but please note this service is only available in the US and India right now.
You can also help us out by following us on Google News here and hitting ‘Follow’ whenever you see us in your Google Discover feeds.
By choosing us and our content, you’re sending a clear message: that you want real tech journalism written by real people, not machines.
We’re working hard to diversify how we reach you, but we can’t do it alone. With your help, we can cut through the noise and make sure independent voices like ours continue.
