EVER wondered how many texts you’ve sent on WhatsApp? Well you can find out – and it’s probably more than you thought.
In fact, a hidden menu on WhatsApp can reveal loads of fun info about your phone habits.
It also serves up the total number of texts you’ve received, and even exactly how much time you’ve spent on the phone.
And once you’ve got the info, you can compare it to your friends and family to see who is the real WhatsApp obsessive.
To find your hidden stats, just boot up WhatsApp and then go into the Settings menu.
Now tap on Storage and Data, then look for the Network subheader.
Next, tap on Network Usage to find a long list of stats about what you’ve been up to.
For Messages, you’ll be able to see how many texts you’ve sent and received. It’ll also display the amount of data that these messages have used.
You can also see the data that your chat media has used up too.
It’s worth noting that your received texts will almost certainly be much higher than your sent texts.
That doesn’t necessarily mean you’re super popular: it’s actually the result of group chats.
Group chats mean you’re far more likely to be bombarded with more texts than you’re sending.
However, if you’re in loads of group chats and your Sent Text read-out is higher than your Received Text count, it probably means you’re a textaholic.
WhatsApp’s stats page will also show info on your phone calls made through the app.
You can see the number of outgoing and incoming calls – and, again, how much data they’ve used.
But you can also check the total time that you’ve spent on WhatsApp phone calls. If you use it regularly, it might even be counted in “days”.
This data is tracked to your WhatsApp account, so should be logging info even if you’ve swapped phones.
But if you’ve changed WhatsApp accounts, your old data won’t be tracked.
You can also set all of the counters back to zero by hitting the big red Reset Statistics button at the bottom.
It’ll update the “Last Reset” note at the bottom with today’s date if you tap it.
TRY SCREEN TIME TOO!
If you want even more info about how you’re using your iPhone, try Screen Time…
Screen Time is a special feature on iPhone that logs how you’re using your handset.
You’ll need to turn it on by going to Settings > Screen Time.
Then you’ll be able to see how much time you’re spending on your phone each day.
It’ll also show you a list of the apps that you’re using, and how much time you’re spending on them.
You can see the number of times you pick up your iPhone (including each day’s first unlock).
And you can use Screen Time to set limits for certain types of apps – that’s perfect if you think you’re spending too much time on your phone.

But be careful: this will wipe away your network usage data, so it’ll all start from scratch. That might ruin the fun of being able to log how much you’ve used WhatsApp over the years.
MORE STATS!
Another fun stats feature can be found by opening WhatsApp then going to Settings > Storage and Data > Manage Storage.
This will rank all of your WhatsApp chats by the amount of storage space being taken up by media from those conversations.
Each chat will have a figure next to it showing the amount of data being used.
So chats where you’re regularly receiving photos and videos should show up higher on the list.
If you tap onto a specific chat on the list, you’ll see a grid that contains all of the media from that conversation – each captioned with how much storage space that item is taking up.
You can then use this page to quickly delete items to free up space on your iPhone or Android.
